Quick and easy tips for a sulit and sustainable holiday season!

Filipinos are known to celebrate the longest and grandest holiday season. More often than not, this comes at an economic and environmental expense, having to spend more on food and gifts - but it doesn’t always have to be like that. Having an affordable and sustainable celebration can be an option and a great way for families to bond together.

Ajinomoto Philippines Corporation (APC Group) shares a few tips on how Filipinos can have a meaningful holiday season- the budget-friendly and eco-friendly way. APC Group General Manager of Corporate Planning and Public Relations Roann Co said, “We, at Ajinomoto, believe that there is no small contribution when it comes to caring for the environment. Through our tips below, we hope to empower Filipinos in giving the gift of sustainability this holiday season.”

Here are some eco-friendly and meaningful ways to celebrate the holidays:

1. Recycled gift wraps and Do-It-Yourself gifts
Using old magazines and newspapers as an alternative gift wrapper isn’t a new practice to Filipinos. But, it is definitely something that we should further encourage among our families and friends. Not only does it help the environment, it is also easy on the pocket too!

Moreover, if you’re still wondering what gifts you should give, you can check some of the winning DIY projects during the online contest for Ilabas ang SustainAbilidad campaign such as the apron made from the wrappers of used Ajinomoto products and a DIY toy kitchen set for kids who want to learn to cook. You can also try re-inventing some of the projects to make it more creative and more heart-felt.

2. Solar-powered string lights
Christmas decorations are incomplete without bright lights at home and on streets. Retire your vintage decors by using solar-powered lights which give you the same merry evenings with less electricity consumption and environmental impact. And since these solar-powered decors don’t add to your electricity bill, you may also consider maintaining this type of ambient lights on your garden and terraces.

Beyond homes, Ajinomoto has also introduced solar energy to its Bulacan factory and it is projected to offset around 865 metric tons of carbon dioxide which is equivalent to reducing 2,352,456 miles in vehicle travel per year.

3. Prepare delicious, nutritious, and eco-friendly holiday meals
What makes Filipino holidays special is the variety of food options planned and prepared by home cooks. Bring out the flavor of your favorite handaan dishes like Pinoy spaghetti, lumpiang shanghai, adobo, kaldereta, and more with the new AJI-NO-MOTO® Umami Seasoning 45g paper pack. The new packaging is made from a natural paper material that can be planted, grown, harvested, and then replanted which means you’re not only preparing delicious food for the family but also helping the environment.

Here are some holiday recipe ideas you may try:

Instead of buying salty potato chips as an appetizer for your guests this Christmas, why not try making your own chips at home? These Pasta Chips recipe can turn your typical soft pasta into a crispy delight that’s also less sodium, thanks to AJI-NO-MOTO®! Just deep-fry sliced and cooked lasagna sheets in a pan with oil. Drain excess oil using a strainer. While hot, immediately sprinkle some grated parmesan cheese and AJI-NO-MOTO® Umami Seasoning for that added umami-goodness.

New pasta dish to impress! Savor the delicious kick from Cajun and the savory goodness of AJI-NO-MOTO® Umami Seasoning. Heat oil and melt butter in a pot. Add the chicken pieces then cook until golden brown. Chicken breast is a great source of lean Protein to help build strong muscles. Add the onions, tomatoes, French beans then cook for 3 minutes. Toss together the cooked penne pasta. To ensure an al dente texture or slightly firm pasta, cook pasta one minute less than the package instructions. Drain then you may opt to drizzle a little bit of olive oil to avoid the pasta from sticking together. Season with cream cheese and your homemade Cajun spice mix – smoked paprika powder, dried oregano, dried thyme, AJI-NO-MOTO® Umami Seasoning, and cayenne powder. Mix and cook for 3-5 minutes. Transfer to a plate then garnish with spring onions. This is another pasta dish that is complete with Go, Grow, and Glow Foods!

APC Group’s campaign for sustainability is part of its Ajinomoto Group creating shared value (ASV) framework which directs the company to realize greater wellness for people around the world through thoughtful business activities focusing on health and the environment.

This holiday season, may we have more food to share and gifts to give. And more importantly, may the spirit of giving extend towards caring for the environment,” Co said.

Winning Entries of Ajinomoto’s first-ever 'Sustainabilidad Challenge'

Ajinomoto Philippines Corporation (APC) Group recently concluded its first-ever #AjinomotoSustainAbilidadChallenge, an initiative that enjoined Filipinos to share their do-it-yourself (DIY) sustainability projects. The online challenge garnered a total of 243 entries. Five Facebook and five Tiktok participants with the most creative application of the 3Rs of conservation—reduce, reuse, recycle— were hailed as winners.

“Filipinos are resourceful and innovative. This campaign proves just how invested we are when it comes to taking better care of our environment. We hope this campaign further inspires individuals to live a more sustainable lifestyle at home,” said Roann Co, Ajinomoto General Manager of Marketing and Public Relations.

Winning DIY Projects to Try at Home

The five winning entries from Facebook include a project that turned used sachets of Ajinomoto products into a beautiful plastic curtain, as well as one that turned what would have been trash into a fully functioning and fashionable apron. Used cartons were also popular among participants, one turned into a doll house and another into a DIY toy kitchen for kids. Meanwhile, tabs collected from soft drink cans were transformed into a soda tabs gown.

In addition, the entries submitted via Tiktok were equally inventive. One of the winning entries turned an old electronic cartridge into a mini amplifier, while another transformed old throw pillows into new, upcycled ones. On the other hand, those working from home may be inspired by the following DIY office organizers: plastic bottle pencil holders, carton storage box and tissue box turned facemask container.

Congratulations to the winners of the Ajinomoto Sustainabilidad Challenge!

Each of the 10 winners will receive P2,000 worth of gift certificate and other special items from APC Group. Special awards will also be given to entries that garnered the most number of “likes.”

“It makes me glad and proud to see that the SustainAbilidad Challenge was a success. Seeing all the creative DIY projects is truly inspiring because it shows us how big of an impact small acts can do. It also shows us that environmental sustainability really does begin at home,” said Guia Cebrero, Ajinomoto Brand Manager, one of the contest judges.

The #AjinomotoSustainAbilildadChallenge is part of APC’s Ilabas ang SustainAbilidad environment education campaign that was launched last year to help consumers incorporate sustainable practices in their daily lives.

Moreover, showing its serious commitment to sustainability, APC Group had earlier pledged to reduce its plastic waste to zero by 2030. The organization has already reduced the size and thickness of its packaging that led to lessening its plastic waste by 70-100 tons per year. The company has also made use of waste water treatment facilities and technologies to convert some of its factory materials to reusable fuel.

“The #AjinomotoSustainabilidadChallenge together with our other green initiatives are all part of our company’s commitment to resolving social issues through the Ajinomoto Group Creating Shared Value (ASV). We aim to contribute greater health and environmental wellness for people around the world.” Co remarked.

5 Ways to Live a Sustainable Life.

Our everyday lives and our choices are critical to the environment, climate change, and future generations. For example, what we eat, drink, clothing, and the number of kids we choose to have has a significant effect on the environment.

Mostly, the conscious and deliberate effort you make now about how to shop, limit water usage, and travel is a matter of life to every living thing on the planet, including animals and plants. It is all about living sustainably, and here is how.

Recycling bins in South Korea.
Yoo Na in Prime Minister and I (2013).

1. Reuse and Recycle More Than Ever Before
While the current consumerism culture is all about shopping, and more shopping, you can break the cycle by reducing, reusing, and recycling most stuff you use. Again everything we purchase has a substantial environmental footprint. And so, before you make that purchase, ask yourself whether it is necessary.

Think of those massive, heavily advertised baby products that take years to decompose. Then, of course, choose only eco-friendly baby products, most of which you can reuse and recycle.

Most environmentally-conscious companies and individuals are now boycotting any product that endangers the soil or even wildlife, and it would be good to take the cue. The good news is that you do not even have to buy some of these products. Instead, you can DIY some of the stuff you use at home.

2. Use Less Energy to Reduce Carbon Emissions
Carbon emissions have a destructive effect on the environment, and it takes a conscious and strong mind to break the pattern. So how do you do it? To start, be sure to turn off appliances when not in use. Minimize their use, and turn down all heating as much as you can.

Generally, keeping your home green at every turn, including maintaining your home and car, improves energy use and efficiency. Once you opt for those energy-saving lights, you will be a step ahead in reducing the harm. And lastly, the more outdoors you get, the more your home becomes energy efficient too.
Jung Hae in for Volvo Korea.

3. Changing Your Driving Habits
Even though driving has become essential in the modern world, you can limit your trips or use a more friendly means of transport to reduce the carbon footprint. Let’s say, whenever possible, walk or bike. These car-free days are hugely beneficial to your budget, health, and environment.

There are several other ways to reduce your car use even when you have to travel longer distances. Those mass transit services such as bus or train systems available in your location are a perfect option. You can even opt for carpool or vanpool services, and that will be way better than if you were to use your car daily.

4. Check the Product Certification Before You Buy
Now, most echo products coming from all corners of the globe have fair-trade certification. So, whenever you pick your coffee, tea, or fruit, check if the product has that label. It is an indication that it has been produced using sustainable farming methods.

But doing so also means doing loads of good, not just to the environment but to the local farmers, knowing that they have had the proper compensation for their sweat. While buying organic products may be a bit costlier, the accompanying benefits surpass your money concerns.

Organic means the farms, water, and final products are free from those harmful pesticides. Everything you consume is now clean, and you do not have to worry about its negative impact on your health.

One of the many tote bags worn by Gong Hyo Jin in The Master's Sun (2013).

5. Go as Plastic-Free as You Can
Plastic is virtually everywhere, and eliminating it hasn’t been so easy. Massive amounts of it have found a home on the world’s water mass, causing massive harm to aquatic life. Still, you can make a personal effort to keep off plastics and eventually cut off the waste with reusable shopping bags and water bottles.

You can always ditch any product wrapped with plastic, and if possible, purchase unwrapped goods at your local grocery store. While you may think your action is insignificant, it just takes your single action to change the world and save future generations.

Conclusion
Living a sustainable life will require some lifestyle adjustments on your part. These might be challenging to adapt initially, but once you get used to them, life becomes even more fulfilling. If you haven’t yet joined the movement, why not start today to enjoy sustainability.

Spotlight | Human Heart Nature Sunflower Eye Cream.

I have one rule when it comes to eye creams - It's okay to splurge, as long as the product works.

Well, I almost always end up splurging since I gravitate towards Korean brands (think Innisfree Eco Science Eye Cream and Laneige Eye Sleeping Mask), and on very rare occasions, Western brands like Estee Lauder (Advanced Night Repair Eye Cream).

Recently, however, I've discovered an eye cream that works but costs only a fraction of what I usually spend on the aforementioned products. And the best thing about it? It comes from my favorite local skincare brand, Human Nature.
Human Heart Nature Sunflower Eye Cream.
Launched on the last week of January, the Human Heart Nature Sunflower Eye Cream is the latest addition to the brand's ever-popular sunflower line. I had the chance to get first dibs on this eye cream the day it was launched, and I've been loving this product ever since!

The Human Heart Nature Sunflower Eye Cream is an all-natural eye cream made with jasmine and hawthorn essences that help smoothen and de-puff tired eyes. It also contains rosehip seed oil that helps reduce the appearance of fine lines around the eyes, and cocoa seed butter that treats and fades dark circles under the eye. Last but not the least, this eye cream is infused with Human Heart Nature's bestseller and miracle worker Sunflower Seed Oil that helps nourish the skin and protects it from anti-oxidants.
Product swatch.
Just a little goes a long way!
I've been using this eye cream for almost five weeks now, and I love how it makes my eyes look less tired and puffy even after pulling an all-nighter on my Korean dramas (lol). No dark undereyes, even for the sleep-derived!
What dark undereyes?
The Human Heart Nature Sunflower Eye Cream comes in a 15 mL squeeze tube and retails for Php 295. You can purchase this product online at the Human Heart Nature website or at Human Heart Nature branches near you.

Spotlight | Human Heart Nature Natural Shampoo Bar.

After months of research and development, plus a few more weeks of waiting and eager anticipation, my favorite local beauty brand has finally launched its very own shampoo bar! Yay!

Human Heart Nature introduced its all-new Natural Shampoo Bar a few weeks back, and us fans of eco-friendly, waste-free (beauty and skincare) products couldn't be more excited to try out the latest addition to HN's product line.
Human Heart Nature now has a (Natural) Shampoo Bar!
Human Heart Nature's Natural Shampoo Bar boasts of some of the most moisturizing ingredients that's guaranteed to hydrate and soften your hair and keep it feeling light and silky all day. For starters, there's avocado oil. With its rich mineral and fat content, avocado oil not only moisturizes the hair, it also strengthens it and prevents breakage.
Product description and ingredients list.
Then there's cocoa butter, which is high in fatty acids that form a protective barrier over each strand of hair to hold in moisture. It also adds strength and volume to fine hair and brings back life to chemically-treated hair.

This solid shampoo bar also contains coconut surfactants which gives a nice and foamy lather without being harsh on the scalp and hair.
Shampoo with a heart. :)
That being said, I love how sudsy this shampoo bar is!
I was skeptical at first, unsure if this product can form a decent lather. But the Human Heart Nature Natural Shampoo Bar totally exceeded my expectations. Not only does this shampoo bar lather nicely and make my hair soft and smooth, it smells wonderful, too! The zesty citrus creates a good contrast with the sweet vanilla; the scent is lovely and lasts on your hair for pretty much the entire day.
Also a fan of Human Heart Nature's Natural Shampoo Bar.
Now just like any other shampoo bar, this product has a tendency to melt faster when exposed to too much moisture when not in use. To make this shampoo bar last longer, cradle it in a separate soap dish that gives proper drainage, and keep it far from where the shower spray hits when not in use.
Human Heart Nature Soap Dish by Marsse, Php 150.
The Human Heart Nature Natural Shampoo Bar (70 g) retails for Php 199 and can be bought at Human Heart Nature stores, through Human Heart Nature dealers, or online at the Human Heart Nature website and BeautyMNL.

Don't forget to use my code 'CZJAI' when you shop at BeautyMNL! You get Php 100 off on your first purchase worth Php 1000 and up.

4 Unexpected Ways a Modernized Home Can Make Living Better.

Home is where the heart is so it’s understandable that you should keep this special space in tip-top shape. Whether you are living independently or have a family, your home is a place you want to feel comfortable and welcome in, and updating it with modern touches could help achieve this. If you have been thinking of making much-needed upgrades to your home for a while, here are some reasons you should go for it. The following are four unexpected ways a modernized home can make living better for you.

A modernized home for easier living.

Environmentally Friendly

One of the main features of a modern home is that it is designed to be environmentally friendly. For example, the architecture might take advantage of the amount of natural light that enters the house by installing large windows on the sides of the building most exposed to sunlight. This helps save on electricity bills because there won’t be a need to turn on the lights so much throughout the day. Modern homes also maximize airflow and natural ventilation, so you don’t have to rely so much on air-conditioning, and it features more eco-friendly appliances that do not consume as much energy as old models. Additionally, you can enhance your home's overall efficiency by incorporating automated lighting and shading systems, which can be expertly installed by working with specialists from the Phoenix area's leading lighting and shading company (or one in your area). All these qualities not only let you save money, but they also help you do your part in caring for the environment. Modern homes are great because they take into consideration the bigger picture and how building projects affect the world at large.

Room for Future Customization and Upgrades
A modern home is designed with flexibility in mind, allowing spaces to easily accommodate future customizations and upgrades. Unlike conventional houses, modern designs are not constrained by traditional aesthetic rules such as strict symmetry or ornate detailing, giving homeowners greater freedom to adapt over time. This long-term adaptability makes it easier to introduce lifestyle enhancements, such as a dedicated media room or home theater installation in Boca Raton or wherever you live, without major structural disruption. Whether you're expanding to welcome a growing family or reconfiguring interiors for more efficient living, a modernized home is built to evolve with your needs while avoiding costly and time-consuming renovations.

As technology continues to shape how we use our living spaces, many homeowners are also exploring ways to enhance comfort and entertainment through smart integrations. Incorporating features like custom AV solutions for Louisiana homes or similar setups tailored to your local area allows for a more personalized experience, whether it's creating an immersive home theater, improving whole-home audio, or seamlessly connecting devices across different rooms. These upgrades not only elevate day-to-day living but also ensure the home remains adaptable to future innovations.

Inside a modernized home.

Easier and More Efficient Cleaning
Modernized homes are relatively easier to clean compared to other houses because they are designed to be space-efficient. This means you are able to move easily from one room to the next, which can be very useful when tidying the whole house. Cleaning can be time-consuming, but with a space-efficient modern home, you can move across rooms and rearrange furniture quite easily. Furthermore, modernized houses typically have good ventilation because they are designed to maximize natural airflow. This feature is very advantageous in preventing mold growth because molds like growing in spaces that are humid, damp, and poorly ventilated. Molds can cause a host of health problems, like coughing, eye irritation, and skin rashes.

The aesthetics of a modern home.

Aesthetically Pleasing
Instead of imposing on the natural environment, modern homes take into consideration environmental contexts such as the shape and type of terrain, the flora and fauna, natural light, any bodies of water, and other natural features when creating the architecture, landscape, interior design, and all other design elements of the house. The result is a home that looks natural, cohesive, and aesthetically pleasing. You could say that your home is an extension of your personality, so you want it to be visually appealing. Because modern homes are not bound to any specific style and architectural conventions, you have more freedom to add personal touches to make your house truly your own. A home that looks well-designed and easy on the eyes will make you feel proud and connected to it.

5 Ways to Make Your Workplace Eco-Friendly.

Saving the environment may not be the top priority on your mind when you clock in to start a work shift, but there are numerous ways you can put in minimal effort and make a big difference for future generations and the Earth. The decisions made in an office setting may not seem key to the survival of our environment in the long term, but in reality, simple changes can go a long way toward saving our environment one piece at a time.
1. Optimize Energy Settings on Your Computer
Energy saving settings, as opposed to standby settings, draw less power when you are leaving for the day. Cutting down on power usage can make a significant difference for the environment. In addition, it is important to remember to turn off lights in rooms that aren’t in use.

2. Buy Recycled Printer Paper
Creating paper uses a lot of resources. When you choose a paper that is recycled, opt for one that uses minimal chlorine bleach and a high percentage of post-consumer content. This reduces the impact on the environment as well. Recycled paper allows the opportunity to keep trees in our forests, which leaves more trees to create oxygen and cut down on the erosion that occurs when tree roots are withdrawn from areas, causing unstable land surfaces.
3. Use Reusable Containers to Bring Your Lunch
When it comes to the environment, using reusable containers cuts down on plastic use. That means instead of contributing to the plastic use, 50-percent of which is a single use and then thrown away, you can reduce our plastic waste - roughly 10-percent of the total waste humans generate.

4. Use Recycled Envelopes, Pencils and Pens
Recycled office products can go a long way toward minimizing the work footprint on our Earth. The chance to use recycled envelopes, pencils and pens means less trees are cut and less refuse entering the landfill. These products give new life to used products, which is a two-fold benefit.

5. Think of the Environment with Cleaning Supplies
Biodegradable soaps and cleaners are also a smart move to make work more eco-friendly. The soaps in the bathroom or breakroom to wash one’s hands are as important as the cleaners used by the custodial staff. Act accordingly and encourage your employer to seek out biodegradable options that still clean effectively.
Chemicals are a significant issue for our environment, as they pollute groundwater and kill off various species. Like plastic, the dangers in chemical use are long-term and widely noted. The ability to decrease the use of chemicals that don’t biodegrade can give our environment a chance to survive for a longer period.

Along with the above-noted options is the fact that transporting lunch and items necessary for work should be done in reusable bags. When it comes to your lunch, if you want to keep it cool and be inspired to use the bag on a regular basis, opt for printed cooler bags that look great, keep your lunch cool and are sturdy enough to use for years to come.

Make Home Cleaners with the Kids This Summer.

You have two tasks this summer, keep the kids busy and keep the house clean. Probably not always in that order. Why not keep the kids busy by creating a fun, sensory engaging activity that also helps keep the house clean? You know that sounds great!

Want to know what makes it sound better? They will all be green home cleaning products!

You’re going to have the kids make home cleaners that aren’t filled with harsh chemicals. Occupied kids. Clean house. No killer chemicals. Mom scores with the summer hat trick!

Get the spray bottles ready and the kids lined up on the patio table. It’s time to make some green home cleaning products, Portland style. Here are our three favorite greenhouse cleaners the kids can help make.
Busy as a bee!
Peppermint Shower Spray
Peppermint shower spray is a natural cleaner that fights icky shower mildew and shower scum. Once you have the mixture, keep a bottle in every shower and spray it down after use. You’ll love the lingering smell and feel great about keeping the shower clean without much effort.

To make the peppermint shower spray, you’ll need rubbing alcohol, water and peppermint essential oil. (If they kids aren’t helping you, feel free to substitute the rubbing alcohol for vodka; it works better and you can take a swig as needed.)

Mix 1 cup of water with ½ cup of rubbing alcohol. Add 10 drops of peppermint essential oil. Put it in the spray bottle. Shake to mix. That is it!

Disinfectant Cleaner
With the shower becoming such a happy spot in the house because of the new cleaning spray, you’ll want to expand to have the entire house clean with happy smells. This disinfectant cleaner is all-natural but truly does kill off germs.

Mix ¼ cup of white vinegar with ¼ cup of rubbing alcohol. Add 1¼ cups of water. Then add 15 drops of peppermint and lemon essential oils.

Again, vodka can be substituted for rubbing alcohol and lavender can be substituted for lemon. Add actual lemon rinds to the mixture for added effect.

To use the disinfecting cleaner, spray surfaces, allow it to sit for 10 minutes and then wipe away. For best results, us a microfiber cloth.

Note: This spray is not for granite or marble. The vinegar may actually etch the surface of these stones.

Stainless Steel Polish
If you don’t want to spend an arm and a leg on that fancy stainless steel cleaning solution, here is a cost-effective solution that really works too. And the ingredients are almost always in stock in the kitchen, because you really only need two things: olive oil and paper towels.

Rather than have the kids make this, challenge them to see who can get a better reflection in the refrigerator door.

Simply put a quarter-sized dab on a folded paper towel. Allow it to soak into the paper towel and then start at the top of the stainless steel appliance, applying the oil with the grain of the stainless steel. Work from left to right.

Once you’ve applied the olive oil to the entire appliance, rub away any excess. Buff out the finish with a paper towel or use a microfiber towel for a real sharp shine on the stainless steel.

For the days when the kids are busy at the pool, let the professionals do the dirty work. Get an estimate now for the best green house cleaning service in Portland.

Seoul Searching | Seoul Forest.

In South Korea, May 5 is declared as Children's Day, one of the eleven official holidays in the country. On this day, parents give presents to their children and spend time with them by taking them to zoos, museums, playgrounds, and other child-friendly venues.

We had the chance to celebrate this foreign holiday yesterday - a first for us, since we don't have Children's Day in the Philippines. I originally planned to take Yue to the Children's Grand Park, a popular family destination during Children's Day, but I had been warned by my Korean friend that we might not be able to fully enjoy the park as it would most likely be jam-packed.

I took her word for it, so I took Yue to nearby Seoul Forest instead. I anticipated that the place would be just as crowded, but at least it would not be a waste of bus/subway fare since Seoul Forest is just a fifteen-minute walk from where we live.
Yue at Seoul Forest.
The third largest park in the city, Seoul Forest was established to satisfy the people's desire to have more green spaces and recreational places in Seoul. The park was officially opened in June 2005, and has since been a popular destination for both tourists and locals.
Lovely trees surrounding the car park.

Eco-friendly Tips for Your Bedroom.

Even if it’s not Earth Day, you can still make it a point to live green and eco-friendly. Your home is a great place to start when it comes to green living. Most people tend to go green in the most popular areas, such as the bathroom and the kitchen. But those aren’t the only rooms in the house that will allow you to make a difference in the world. Your bedroom is another area of your home where you can go green, so check out some of the eco-friendly tips for your bedroom.
Green Floors
When thinking of going green for your bedroom, start at the bottom. There are plenty of green floors you can purchase that will make your home more eco-friendly. If you like hardwood, you can opt for a recycled wood product, or you can opt for something that’s already naturally friendly, such as cork. If you would prefer carpet in the bedroom, there are some eco-friendly carpets you can choose from too, such as those made with natural materials instead of harmful chemicals.

Bedding
Your bed is another area where you can make an eco-friendly difference. For example, you can replace your own bedding with an eco-friendly bedding option. These products are made from natural materials instead of those with harmful materials. Plus, during the manufacturing process, these products are created in a more natural way instead of using harmful chemicals or wasting a great deal of energy to produce. Do some research on the different green bedding options that are available, and choose the option that makes the most sense for your home and your bedroom.

Paint
Painting your bedroom is a necessity to create your dream boudoir; however, if you use traditional paints, you are putting harmful VOCs and other chemicals into the air. Instead, you should opt for a natural paint. This paint doesn’t use any harmful chemicals or VOCs. Not only is it better for the environment, but it’s also much better for your health too.
Lighting
Lighting is also a necessity in your bedroom, but if you don’t use the right bulbs, you could be wasting a significant amount of energy. If you want to make your bedroom green, then you need to replace traditional bulbs with incandescent. These bulbs use much less energy than traditional bulbs, which will not only help you reduce your own carbon footprint, but will also help you to save some money on your energy bills as well.

Window Coverings
You may not realize how much your windows and current window coverings could be hurting your energy usage. For example, if you have sheer curtains, you could be forcing your furnace or your air conditioner to work overtime. Instead, invest in some blackout shades, curtains, or other window coverings to help you keep the sun out of your room in the summer. This will keep your room nice and cool, which will also keep your air conditioner from running constantly and wasting energy.

Water-Conservation Products
If you have a bathroom in your bedroom, you should consider adding some water-conservation products to the mix to help make your bedroom entirely green. For example, a water-saving faucet will eliminate the amount of water that is wasted when you brush your teeth, wash your face, or simply wash your hands. You can also invest in a water-saving shower head too, which will reduce the amount of water you use while showering. To truly complete your water-saving capabilities, you should buy a dual flush toilet. These products give you two separate flushing options, allowing you to use less water when possible and more when necessary.

Spotlight | Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Cream.

I think I've mentioned this before -  while I do have a skincare routine that I follow religiously, I make adjustments to it depending on the season. And now that the temperature dips low and the winds are awfully cold, I have tweaked my skincare routine accordingly by using a brightening ampoule on top of my moisturizer. (And that's after cleansing two ways, exfoliating, and toning.) Also, I have switched to a creamier moisturizer to fight the moisture-zapping temperature that we are experiencing these days.

This is the Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Cream, which I have been using since last month. Got this product from WishTrend, where I also got my Klairs Illuminating Supple Blemish Cream.
Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Cream.
One of Klairs' best-selling products, this concentrated facial cream 'provides immediate and long-term hydration for a radiant complexion'. Made with all-natural ingredients such as Jojoba seed oil and Centella asiatica (it's the same ingredient found in Kiehl's Skin Salve), this product also boasts of an infusion of yeast-derived beta glucans that 'support the skin's natural defense system and improves repair capabilities'.
Gotta love the eco-friendly packaging!
Hangul text (I reckon it's the product description) plus company info.
The Rich Moist Soothing Cream promises deep hydration, and as far as I'm considered, Klairs delivers on its promise. My skin, which tends to look dull and feel awfully dry during the cold months, could not be more grateful to this moisturizer. After a few days of continued use, the dry patches on my face were gone, no more redness around the nose, and my skin felt softer and smoother.
Comes in a jar; no spatula, though.
I use this twice a day - in the morning before I put on my makeup, and at night before I hit the sack. But I guess it'll take awhile before I run out of this product, since it's very economical to use. Because of its super creamy texture, you only need a teeny dollop for your face and neck.
See how creamy this product is?
Just a little goes a long way.
Now as far as potency is concerned, I have no complaints about this product. In fact, this baby even exceeded my expectations! My only gripe is that it does not come with a spatula - and you know how partial I am when it comes to (skincare) products in tubs, with the sanitary and contamination issues and all. Anyhoo, I guess I'll just have to buy another spatula from the local beauty store.

The Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Cream comes in one size only (50 mL) and sells for $23.99 (around Php 1000) at WishTrend. They do ship internationally, and offer free shipping for products worth $70 and above. You also get free samples for every purchase. :)

Tips for an Eco Friendly Organic Garden.

If you are someone who loves to do your part for the world, one lace for you to start is with your garden. So many people put time and effort into their garden that they never realise how much a part of nature it is. When you want to make sure that your garden is operating under green principles, take a moment to think about what you can do.

Consider Insecticidal Soap
One thing that many new green gardeners have to face is how they can keep pests out of their flowers and their vegetables. The truth is that when you are going entirely green, there are going to be insects in your garden. However, if you want to make sure that the insects that are currently infesting your garden go away, consider spraying your plants with insecticidal soap. Insecticidal soaps make the plants disagreeable to the insects without harming the plants or their safety for humans. Spray your garden with insecticidal soap to keep the vast majority of insects away

Grow Native Plants
When you want to make sure that your garden is very eco-friendly, make sure that you start off with native plants. Native plants grow naturally in the the environment, and they can be quite gorgeous when you look them up. However, they often get choked out by invasives or neglected in favour of flashier ornamentals, so it is up to the ecologically responsible gardener to give them a shot. Take a moment to learn what natives are available in your area and to go from there. It's also worth contacting irrigation specialists in Florida water conservation or your area, as this can ensure your plants stay healthy all year round without wasting masses of water.

Consider a Compost Bin
If you are someone who is looking for a way to make your garden thrive and grow, make sure that you think about putting together a compost bin. A compost bin essentially relies one decomposing plant matter to bring life and nutrients back to the soil. If you want to make your soil richer, take a moment to think about putting a compost bin or a compost pile into a corner of your yard. You can feed it off of yard waste and soon enough, you'll have fantastically rich compost that helps you keep your garden nourished.

Bring In the Pollinators
If you are considering making sure that your garden thrives naturally, bring on the pollinators. Birds and bees are a necessity when it comes to helping your natural garden grow, and in many areas, they can use a bit of encouragement. Consider skipping insecticides altogether in favour of encouraging birds to come in as natural predators. Plants like lavender, foxglove and bee balm are natural choices for insects. You can look up the native birds in your area that serve as pollinators and which can help your garden thrive.

Take a few moments to think about your garden and how you can make sure that it creates a gorgeous green spot in the world. Going green and organic takes some effort, but you will find that in short order, it is entirely worth it! If your not a hands on person when it comes to gardening consider a professional for your garden maintenance in Brisbane.

Spotlight | Spray n' Go Waterless Car Cleaners.

You may not be aware of it, but washing your car in the comforts of your own driveway is one of the most environmentally unfriendly thing to do. Washing your own car can mean using as much as 150 to 200 liters of water, whereas a car wash facility uses about 45 gallons for every car. And for both cases, the dirty water mixes with chemicals, oil, dirt, and other pollutants that can pose serious threats to the environment.

Professional car detailers, however, have water treatment facilities to make sure that the effluent, water, and chemicals are treated before being discharged into the sewers. A do-it-yourself car wash, on the other hand, does not have the proper tools and technology to collect or treat the dirty wastewater. This is where waterless car cleaning solutions come in handy. And yes, they do exist here in the Philippines.
Spray n' Go!
Spray n' Go Waterless Car Cleaners are a greener, environment-friendly alternative to the traditional car wash that we know. A family-owned business located in Taytay, Rizal, Spray n' Go makes use of eco-friendly, biodegradable products that are proudly Philippine-made.
Glass Cleaner, Rim & Tire Cleaner, Car Wash & Quick Detailer.
The Waterless Car Wash & Quick Detailer contains coconut-based wax that lifts stubborn dirt on the surface of your automobile. It contains no solvents, which makes it gentle on your car's paint, and is cosmetic-grade, an assurance that it's safe and gentle on your skin.

The Rim & Tire Cleaner, on the other hand, is free from harmful chemicals that can make your tire brittle. It is safe on all light alloy wheels, and on clear-coated rims, as well as those with chrome, polished, and anodized finish.

The Glass Cleaner is just as safe to use. It contains no alcohol or ammonia, is safe on treated windows and glass surfaces, and lessens rain spots and improves visibility.
