My Althea Easter Haul!

For the first time ever, we skipped this year's Easter activities because my son - now in his 'tweens' - insisted that he's too old for bunny ears and painting eggs and stuff like that. So instead of hunting eggs on Easter Sunday, I found myself hunting for (more) K-beauty products at my favorite K-beauty shopping website, Althea. I had a few more Rewards Points in my account anyway, so might as well spend them all before they expire.

My Althea Easter haul (officially my fourth beauty haul from Althea) arrived over the weekend, and here's a glimpse of what I got:
I went hunting last Easter and this is what I got. :)
Petitfee Gold & Snail Hydrogel Eye Patch (Php 420).
Watching K-dramas has never been better ever since I got a Smart TV. And because we're on a school break, I now have more time to binge-watch currently airing and recently concluded K-dramas... and less time for sleep. Lol. Thank goodness for sheet masks and eye patches to help me not look like a sleep-deprived zombie.
Petitfee Gold & Snail Hydrogel Patch.
The Petitfee Gold & Snail Hydrogel Eye Patch is a daily pack for sensitive eyes and wrinkles, which contains gold powder to help with blood circulation for brighter eyes, and snail secretion filtrate to hydrate the skin and reduce puffiness under the eyes. It provides moisture, increases elasticity, and reduces wrinkles around the eye area.

Missha Layer Blurring Primer Pore Cover (Php 290).
Although I really don't have issues when it comes to enlarged, visible pores on my face, I ended up buying the Pore Cover variant of Missha's Layer Blurring Primer line because the other variant (Long Lasting) is taking forever to be restocked on the Althea website.
Missha Layer Blurring Primer Pore Cover.
The Missha Layer Blurring Primer Pore Cover is formulated to even out skin tone and smoothen rough pores, fine lines, and rugged areas on the face. It's infused with sebum-controlling ingredients to keep facial oils at bay and make the skin soft and seamless. It preps the face for makeup by refining the rough texture of the skin and 'blurring out' skin imperfections.

A'pieu Oil Remobong (Php 230).
Even though I've been using makeup and applying them on my face on an almost daily basis for years, I still make mistakes every now and then. When that happens, I usually rely on the Etude House Eraser Show Line Remover Stick to help fix my makeup blunder.
A'pieu Oil Remobong.
The A'pieu Oil Remobong works the same way. These plush cotton swabs are filled with olive oil to easily and quickly remove any stray makeup while keeping the skin moisturized. They’re gentle on sensitive areas like the eyes and lips, and are easily disposable for convenient, hygienic use.

Innisfree Jelly Cheek in 02 Fresh Peach (Php 470).
Curious about the formulation and still very much obsessed with blushers, I got the Innisfree Jelly Cheek in shade 02 Fresh Peach. A relatively new product (I reckon these blushers were launched early this year), the Innisfree Jelly Cheek is a long-wearing blush with a soft, jelly-like texture. It comes with a mochi-like applicator which helps create that natural flush on your cheeks.
Innisfree Jelly Cheek in 02 Fresh Peach.
Tony Moly Pureness 100 Mask Sheet (Php 40).
My favorite Tony Moly Pureness 100 Mask Sheet is back in stock, yay! I bought the Hyaluronic variant back in February and loved the moisturizing effect on my skin, but nothing compares to the hydration and glowing effect that the Snail variant gives.

My Althea Lunar New Year Haul!

"I konmari-d my vanity dresser over the weekend," I told my sister, who came over yesterday to visit the kids.

"Oh, you watched the show?" she asked.

With a head shake and a finger wag, I replied, "No, but konmari is all over my Facebook news feed and I just did what everyone else seems to be doing. I needed space for all these beauty products that I'm getting."

"I stopped watching after the first episode."

"You didn't like the series?"

"I liked it. So much, that I ended up throwing half of my husband's stuff after episode one," she answered, before bursting into a fit of laughter.

My sister and I live apart so we don't see each other very often. But when we do, we talk about everything under the sun - from our married lives to our travel plans, to serious 'adulting' issues like life insurance and property investments, and of course, kikay stuff like upcoming makeup launches and the skincare products that I'm buying from Althea. Case in point, my latest beauty haul.
Ringing in the Lunar New Year with this haul from Althea!
Halfway through January, my Althea family sent me another surprise gift - $50 worth of Rewards Points credited to my Althea account. And with that, I was able to purchase all these without having to spend a dime. Awesomesauce, right? :)

Now here's a quick run-through of what's inside my Althea Lunar New Year box:
Laneige Essential Power Skin Refiner Moisture, Php 1100.
Laneige Essential Power Skin Refiner Moisture (Php 1100).
I received a complimentary travel-sized bottle of this toner when we visited the Laneige Flagship Store in Ewha last spring. Unlike most toners, the Laneige Essential Power Skin Refiner has a thicker, more viscous formula that deeply moisturizes the skin from the get-go.

The cold months usually wreak havoc on my skin, and this toner was quite the wonder worker. It kept my skin from looking dull and feeling dry, and you get soft and smooth skin in an instant. I just couldn't get enough of that 'chok chok' (dewy, bouncy, hydrated) effect from this toner so I decided to go full-size!
Innisfree Green Tea Seed Serum, Php 1090.
Innisfree Green Tea Seed Serum  (Php 1090).
To complement the Innisfree Green Tea Balancing Lotion that I've previously bought, I got the Innisfree Green Tea Seed Serum which now comes in a new packaging. Not sure if they also changed the formulation, but I hope they did not because the OG formula is already hydrating and nourishing as is.
Mise en Scene Perfect Repair Serum, Php 400.
Mise en Scene Perfect Repair Serum (Php 400).
I've been using the same brand of hair serum for more than five years now, and giving the Mise en Scene Perfect Repair Serum a try is like breaking out of my comfort zone. I've read tons of positive feedback about this product, and I just had to satisfy my curiosity as to why they love this hair serum. I just hope the curious cat in me won't have regrets later on.
Missha Superfood Apricot Lip Scrub, Php 240.
Missha Superfood Apricot Lip Scrub (Php 240).
Because we can't get enough of lip treatment products! Also, I was very much drawn to the packaging. Supreme vibes, yes?
Tony Moly New Pureness 100 Mask Sheet, Php 40.
Tony Moly Pureness 100 Mask Sheet (Php 40).
One thing I love about Tony Moly sheet masks is how they fit nicely on my face. I've tried the Snail variant of this sheet mask before and it was so damn good. Very moisturizing, and your skin looks glowing the morning after. Unfortunately, the Snail sheet mask wasn't in stock when I placed my order so I settled for the Hyaluronic one instead. I hope this variant will be just as impressive.

I have another beauty haul arriving in a few weeks. Should I take my sister's lead and konmari my husband's stuff as well? :)

Sneak Peek | Tony Moly x Moschino Collection.

Beauty meets fashion in this exciting collaboration between Korean beauty brand Tony Moly and Italian fashion house Moschino!

And I say exciting because Tony Moly is a brand known (or should I say infamous) for its simple, no-fuss, at times 'ho-hum' packaging, and this team-up with Moschino and Jeremy Scott's fun, whimsical, at times eccentric fashion designs might just be the 'facelift' that Tony Moly needs. It's also worth mentioning that Jeremy Scott, the creative director of Moschino, was an early proponent of collaboration culture who loves mixing high fashion with street wear, and pop culture motifs with clothing.

I'll let the pictures do the talking.

Sneak Peek | Tony Moly x Samyang Collection.

I may have been on point with my prediction from a few months back that the K-beauty industry would be banking on collaborations with food brands. There's the Peko Collection from Holika Holika (which I am currently testing as I write and will be doing a review of real soon), and the Coca-Cola Collection from The Face Shop which started the trend this year.

And just when I thought I have seen it all, here comes Tony Moly with a collection that's bound to be hot, hot, hot! That's because they're collaborating with Samyang, makers of the buldak bokkeum-myeon (aka Hot Chicken Flavor Ramen) which gave rise to the world-famous Fire Noodle Challenge.
Tony Moly x Samyang Collection.
The star of this collection would have to be the Hot Edition Hot Coverdak Cushion, which comes in a quirky cup noodle packaging.
Hot Edition Hot Coverdak Cushion, 12000 won.
The packet that comes with the cushion is actually the refill. Once the original cushion runs out, simply squeeze out the contents of the packet, the way you'd squeeze out the buldak spicy sauce.
Squeeze out the 'sauce'!
There's also the Hot Edition Noodle Blusher, which comes in two shades - Bad Red, a bright red blush that screams for attention, and Carborator, a soft, shimmery shade of pink that you can also use as a highlighter.
Hot Edition Noodle Blusher, 7000 won.
This collection also includes the Hot Edition Lip Care Stick, a colorless lip balm to moisturize your lips and keep them from chapping.
Hot Edition Lip Care Stick, 6000 won.
To give your lips a pop of color, there's the Hot Edition Lip Sauce Tint which comes in two shades - Chicken Red and Cheese Chicken. Not sure if these lip tints have the same scent as the real thing; if that's the case, then this collection would be taking quirkiness to the next level, lol.
Hot Edition Lip Sauce Tint, 8000 won.
Finally, there's the Hot Lucky Box, which comes in an even bigger cup noodle packaging. Like Forrest Gump's box of chocolates (you'll never know what you're gonna get), the Hot Lucky Box contains five or six items selected at random.
Hot Lucky Box, 25000 won.
If you're really lucky, you might get the box that contains the Perfect Eyes Mood Eye Palette which originally sells for 22000 won.
What's inside the Hot Lucky Box?
The Tony Moly x Samyang Collection was officially launched last Friday, September 7, and is now available at all Tony Moly stores across South Korea.

Spotlight | Tony Moly ❤ Pokemon Pikachu Kids & Mom Toner.

South Korea may have been a little late when it comes to Pokemon Go (the game made its debut in the country only last January, six months after its worldwide launch), but not with Pokemon merchandise. Pikachu and friends are extremely popular in South Korea, and you'll find all sorts of merchandise - toys, plushies, apparel, jewelry, stationery, to name a few - in almost every shopping district, traditional markets included.

Case in point, the Tony Moly x Pokemon collaboration collection which created quite a stir among makeup junkies and Pokemon fans around the world. (Me included!) And so last winter, I made it a point to buy a few items from the limited edition collection, for myself and for my siblings who are huge Pokemon fans as well.
Tony Moly x Pokemon products, on display in one of the stores in Myeongdong.
Luckily, Tony Moly had a huge sale event while I was there. I was able to buy pasalubong for the entire family without making my wallet weep, haha! As for myself, I got one of those Jigglypuff Peach Pacts, some sheet masks, a makeup pouch, and this Pikachu Kids & Mom Toner.
Pikachu Kids & Mom Toner.
Originally priced at 13000 won (around Php 600 or $11) this toner went on sale for just 9900 won (around Php 450 or $9) each. The discounted price was actually one of the reasons why I bought this product on a whim - aside from the fact that the packaging is just too cute to resist.
Mostly Hangul text at the back of the box.
A moisturizing toner that refreshes the skin and smoothens skin texture, the Pikachu Kids & Mom Toner is gently-formulated and guaranteed safe for sensitive skin. The brand claims that this product can even be used by children, thus the name 'kids and mom toner', though I really wouldn't let my eight-year-old son or my five-year-old niece use this, or any other cosmetics for that matter.
Product description in English, printed on the side panel.
A soothing complex of plant extracts, this toner's major components include lavender flower water, cornflower water, and Western pear extract - all three ingredients known for their antioxidant properties and healing benefits on the skin.
EWG Verified!
This product also boasts of an EWG verification, meaning it has passed the strictest health and transparency standard of the Environmental Working Group (EWG). Products with the EWG Verified mark are guaranteed free from harmful chemicals and are produced with the best manufacturing practices. How awesome is that?
Yep, it's a licensed product!
Personally, I love how this product works well on my sensitive skin. It does not sting, and it never broke me out.
Here's the bottle.
And the back of the bottle.
It has a thin, watery consistency which is light on the the skin and leaves it feeling cool and hydrated - exactly what my skin needs during these hot summer months.
Tamper-sealed.
Dispenses just the right amount of product.
It also has a mild, citrusy scent, the kind that perks you up on lazy Monday mornings. No worries if citrusy scents are not up your alley. The scent fades as soon as you bathe your skin with the toner.
Thin, watery consistency.
Best of all, I love how this toner smoothens my skin and makes it look healthy and supple. I've been using this product for a little over a month now, and it does a good job at keeping my skin moisturized and healthy without the redness or break-outs.

Would I repurchase? If this product has not been discontinued by the time I return to Seoul, I would! :)

Sneak Peek | Tony Moly ❤ Pokemon Collection Season 2!

Last month, Tony Moly unveiled their latest collaboration collection featuring the adorable pocket monsters more popularly known as Pokemon. The collection consists mostly of skincare products, such as hand creams, moisture creams, and foam cleansers. You can view the entire product line in this post, along with my promise of giving you a sneak peek once the second edition is out.

Well the long wait is over, as season two of the Tony Moly x Pokemon collection has been revealed!
Pokemon ❤ Tony Moly, again!
Let's go Pokemon hunting! Details after the jump! :)

Sneak Peek | Tony Moly ❤ Pokemon Collection.

So it seems like everyone's crazy about Pokemons these days, thanks to Pokemon Go, a location-based augmented reality mobile game. Released in July 2016, the game quickly became a global phenomenon, and was heralded as one of the most used mobile apps this year. I am hooked to the game myself, along with my siblings, my cousins, and even some of my (mommy) friends at Yue's school.

Now the latest to join this Pokemon craze is Korean cosmetics brand Tony Moly, with the launch of their limited edition Tony Moly x Pokemon collection! Collaboration collections are nothing new in the Korean cosmetics industry, but I'm quite sure this particular line will be such a hit not only with Korean cosmetics lover but also with Pokemon fans across the globe.
Pokemon ❤ Tony Moly!
Catch them all after the jump!

Spotlight | Tony Moly Simply Style Slim Curling Mascara.

Just when I thought I was able to buy all my makeup and skincare needs from Myeongdong, I realized not too long ago that I forgot one important makeup item - a mascara. Good thing I have an extra wand hidden in my makeup stash! (And by hidden, I actually mean that I bought/got it, stored it in my makeup box, and completely forgot about it. Lol!)
Tony Moly Simply Style Slim Mascara (Curling).
This is the Simply Style Slim Mascara from Tony Moly, which sells at Php 199 each. Designed to make eyelashes look naturally longer and thicker, the Simply Style Slim Mascara line comes in two variants - Volume and Curling. Mine is the latter, as you can see.
Hangul text on the tube.
It doesn't come with a box, unlike some of the other mascaras that I have used. So yeah, the mascara tube is the packaging itself. There's Hangul text written on the tube, which I reckon is the list of ingredients. Unfortunately, my knowledge of Hangul is limited to the spoken language.
The wand and the tube.
The mascara comes in a slender black tube with a normal looking wand. But take a closer look at the brush applicator and you will see that the bristles are fine and thin. The slim tip is great for applying mascara on the bottom lashes, as well the lashes on the corners of your eye.
A closer look at the brush applicator.
The mascara does not clump, which makes it easy to apply. At the same time, the wand is easy to maneuver, which allows you to apply the mascara evenly on your lashes. Now some reviewers of Latisse (a popular lash growth serum) post about side effects such as itching and iris color change.

Now here's the mascara in action. As you can see, my lashes are naturally long.
Bare face.
But after two or three coats of the Simply Style Slim Curling Mascara, my lashes appear longer, with a bit of curl, too. Looks like I can actually skip the curlash with this mascara. Volume is okay, though I was not expecting much. After all there is a 'Volume' variant, and this one is the 'Curling' variant.
Lashes with the Simply Style Slim Curling Mascara.
Do note, however, that this mascara is not waterproof. Expect the occasional flaking especially if you're wearing it in this hot and humid Philippine weather. On a more positive note, at least it can be washed off easily with just water and soap/facial wash. :)
Products used:
FACE: Innisfree No Sebum Blur Primer,
Benefit Erase Paste in Medium,
Tony Moly Luminous Aura BB Cream,
Peripera Snow White Pride Up Pact.
EYES: Shiseido Eyebrow Pencil in Brown,
The Face Shop Ink Graffi Pen Liner,
Tony Moly Simply Style Slim Curling Mascara.
CHEEKS: Ever Bilena Cheek Blush in Raisin.
LIPS: Colour Pop Ultra Matte Lip in Limbo.

What I love:
- Sleek and handy packaging.
- Lengthens and curls the lashes.
- Lightweight and quick-drying formula.
- Doesn't clump.
- Curl holds up for hours.
- No weird, chemical smell.
- Non-irritating, safe for sensitive eyes.
- Easy to remove; washes off easily.
- Affordable price.

What you might not like:
- It's not waterproof.

Overall, this mascara is a good buy, considering its very affordable price. Not bad for Php 199 since it lives up to its name of 'Curling' mascara. :)
