Spotlight | Sabanana Chips.

When I discovered Sabanana Chips a few weeks ago through a friend who sells them at their family-owned school, I knew right then and there that this was the product I want need for my upcoming food giveaway. After all, I'm all for green living and healthy eating, and what snack could be better than this?

Sabanana Chips in Sweet Original Flavor.
Paper-thin, bursting with flavor, with just the right crunch. They're packed in heat-sealed, stand-up pouches, complete with nutrition facts and product information. From there I found the Sabanana Chips website and sent an inquiry, asking if they would be interested in a product feature and giveaway sponsorship.

The response came right away, and Mr. Raymund Aaron (the brand's General Manager) was more than happy to provide the prizes for my giveaway. I had the chance to personally meet him over the weekend, as he drove all the way to San Pablo just to give me these. (Sorry, no photo opp. I was doing the laundry that day and I looked like crap, lol.)

A bayong (woven sack) brimming with bags of Sabanana Chips!

These mouth-watering chips are of the 'saba' variety (Cardaba banana) and are grown and produced at the Villa Socorro Agri-Eco Village and Farm Resort in Pagsanjan, Laguna. When ready for picking, the bananas are harvested, peeled, sliced thinly and then cooked via the “kawa sa pugon” (think huge cooking pan on a wood-fired oven) method all in the same day to ensure freshness.

They come in three flavors, too.

The classic goodness of the Sweet Original flavor.

The tangy Smoky BBQ flavor.

And the Roasted Garlic flavor, which my brother and I can't seem to get enough of.

Although Sabanana Chips are not available in groceries or supermarkets, there are lots of outlets all over Metro Manila and Laguna that carry the Sabanana brand. The Sweet Original flavor comes in 30g and 100g packs and are sold at Php 11 and Php 32, respectively. The Smoky BBQ and Roasted Garlic are available in 30g packs only.

And I really don't mind if my son mindlessly munches on these chips each time he watches the telly. Because these are not junk food! They're healthy food! Very, very healthy food! Compared to an apple, a banana has
  • 5x more vitamin A and iron
  • 4x more protein
  • 3x more phosphorus
  • 2x more carbohydrates
  • 2x more of other vitamins and minerals
  • loaded with potassium
And it combats a number of known illnesses, too!

I know most of the moms out there are smiling as they read this. Now let's turn that smile into a wide grin.
The winner of my May Buffet Giveaway will get a sack filled with all three flavors of Sabanana Chips, for FREE! Plus, I'm opening this giveaway worldwide so that my international readers can also have a taste of healthy, Philippine-made goodness!

The May Buffet goes live on May 1, 12MN EST and will run until May 15, 12MN EST. See you back here in a few hours, then! :)

Join | Tropical Traditions Giveaway!

I'm so excited to bring you another Super Event Giveaway! This week is all about Tropical Traditions and their amazing Coconut products! Hosted by Full Price? Never! with contributing bloggers CuzinLogic and MyCraftyLife.
About Tropical Traditions: Tropical Traditions has a long history of cultivating superior coconut oil. Founders Brian W. Shilhavy, BA, MA and Marianita Jader Shilhavy, BS, CND actually farmed it themselves in the Philippines which lead to their understanding of the health qualities of coconuts. Once back in the states they recognized a need to find quality coconut products and they filled it! Maybe their most famous product, Coconut Oil is the first thing that people think of when it comes to Coconut products, but Tropical Traditions offers so much more! From organic food to skin care items!

Learn More About Tropical Traditions: Website, Twitter #1, Twitter #2, Google+, Pinterest, Facebook, newsletter.

Personal Review: Heather from Full Price? Never! had the pleasure of reviewing some TROPICAL TRADITIONS products. Here are her thoughts: "I've always loved coconut, but I'd only really ever experienced it in desserts {sad but true}. Who knew that there were so many products that could be made out of coconuts... and that they would be good, really good. We immediately made a bunny rabbit cake and used the coconut chips as the fur. How could we not? Then I sat down and watched Tropical Traditions YouTube channel to get some inspiration. Did you know they have video's of their popular coconut recipe's using their products {don't watch this hungry, they look so good}. Since I was still learning about how to use everything I watched the video that showed 100's of ways to use coconut oil {you can see a list here too}. I really was interested in the Organic Virgin Coconut Teeth Cleaners. I'm very sensitive to the taste of toothpaste... it's my least favorite thing to do so I was thrilled to use Tropical Traditions! The taste was very mild and left my teeth feeling clean and my breath feeling fresh! My next project will be to make brownies using the Organic Coconut Flour with the recipe on the package. Yum! Tropical Traditions get's two thumbs up from me!" Come Check out all the great products by clicking here.

I am thrilled to be joining in with Tots and Me to celebrate the birth of her precious baby boy. Her Baby Shower Celebration has been extended due to unforeseen circumstances. The following review was written by Tots and Me.

Tots and Me

A couple of months ago I shared a little bit about

I was sent the Baby Aspen Baby M.D. Three-Piece Layette Set. I just fell in love with this outfit when I was browsing their site. It comes packaged in this cute little "doctor's bag."

And it unfolds to show it off all set up.

The outfit comes complete with a surgical hat and booties. And look closely, there is a stethoscope around the neck and even a pen in the pocket. I just love the cute little details. Such attention was given to detail that the stethoscope actually goes all the way around to the back of the neck. I was even able to have baby Harold's initials embroidered on. I just couldn't pass this up. It was the closest I could come to a nurses uniform. Daddy is an LPN and uncle is a P.A. (physician's assistant).

Doesn't he look so cute. Can you see this in his future?

Yes, it is a tad big for him yet. This is a 0-6 size so he has room to grow into it. Meaning he can wear it for a long time.

I think the addition of the booties was just priceless. It really looks like a doctor's outfit. I have to admit I left the booties attached to the outfit as they were packaged. He tends to kick socks and booties off and I didn't want to lose these booties.

Had to get a shot of daddy in his scrubs with the baby in his outfit. Don't they make a sweet pair.

I just love the idea behind this outfit and the quality is great . has some of the cutest and most unique outfits I have ever seen. You don't have anyone in the medical profession in your home? Not as interested in this outfit as I am? How about a Camo Layette Set

Baby Aspen Baby Camo Two-Piece Layette Set in Backpack Gift Box
Or a Baseball Three Piece Layette Set
Baby Aspen Baby Baseball Three-Piece Layette Set in All-Star Gift Box

And that is only the tip of the iceberg! There are so many other baby clothes to choose from.  Cute little hats for boys or girls can be found. And if you are looking specifically for a girl, they have the cutest tutus and headbands among so many other cute outfits and accessories.  What are you waiting for? Head on over and check them out.

I am so thankful they agreed to help sponsor my Baby Shower Giveaway, and they have been so patient with me. What a great company this is.

Don't forget to check out
You can also visit them on Facebook and Twitter.
And check out their internet newspaper for parents, Parentsnewz on Facebook and Twitter.

After you check out what they carry I am sure you would love to win a $25 GC so you can get something for yourself or perhaps as a baby shower gift. Just fill in the Rafflecopter below.

I have to mention that I know I do not usually have so many entries on my Rafflecopter forms. However, these wonderful ladies are helping to share my Baby Shower Celebration and I offered them a spot or two on said form. Remember, you don't have to fill in every entry (there are only 2 mandatory entries) but each entry you complete increases your chances for winning and I would love for you to follow these great ladies who are helping me.

Disclosure: I received  the Baby Aspen Baby MD layette set for free as a part of my Baby Shower Celebration. This did not in any way influence my review. I only recommend products I use personally and will be good for my readers.

Spotlight | Human Nature Face Care Line.

I've been asked one too many times before what my 'beauty secret' is. It truly flatters me whenever I receive questions like these (turns out my beauty blogging efforts don't go unnoticed, after all), but at the same time, I feel sheepish and coy. Because honestly, my 'beauty secret' is not a secret at all. I don't use glutathione, I don't do diamond peels, and after that one harrowing experience at a facial center, I never ever got another facial treatment again.

All I do is follow the most basic face care regimen - Cleanse, Tone, and Moisturize. I added a fourth step to this, though, which I call Nourish. And all these I do with Human Nature - their face care line being the gentlest and most effective among all the other face care brands that I've tried.

Step 1. Cleanse.

Balancing Facial Wash.
If your skin type falls within the normal, oily, or combination type, then the Balancing Facial Wash is for you. (I belong to the latter, fyi.) It contains sugar beet and aloe vera which replenishes lost moisture, and bamboo scrubs and loofah which cleanses the skin while keeping excess oil at bay.

You'd be amazed to know that this product also contains manila elemi, an ingredient highly-coveted by the world's beauty industry. Manila elemi comes from the sap of the pili tree, and can be found only in the Philippines. This same ingredient can also be found in luxury face care brands such as Chanel and Dior, meaning, this humble little bottle is at par with these world-renowned brands when it comes to ingredients and composition!

Step 2. Tone.

Balancing  Face Toner.
To complement the first step, use the Balancing Face Toner. It contains marine extracts that give the skin that youthful, shine-free glow. Toning is a very important step as it removes dirt that may have been left behind by the facial wash. It also preps your skin for the next step, which is

Step 3. Moisturize.

Moisturizing Night Cream + Day Fluid.
Now you might think that having two different types of moisturizers can be quite bothersome. I know, because I used to think of it that way. But eventually, I shunned the more popular brand and switched to organic instead. It was one of the best decisions I've ever made, and my skin loved me for it! :)

Human Nature's Moisturizing Day Fluid contains not just one, two, or three vitamins. It actually stands tall and proud as it is packed with fifteen - yes, FIFTEEN - vitamins and minerals to hydrate your skin and protect it from external damages. These include:

an extra dose of Vitamin E, Vitamin C, Vitamin A, Vitamin B1, Vitamin B2, Vitamin B5, Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Selenium, Lecithin, Magnesium, Calcium, Potassium, Iron, and Zinc.

The Moisturizing Night Cream, meanwhile, boasts of plant collagen - the magic ingredient that renews and repairs the skin while you sleep. It also contains a variety of other essential vitamins that aid in cell regeneration. This product claims that 'you'll 'wake up with a smoother, more supple skin, and a refreshed healthy glow', and believe me, there's every bit of truth in that promise. I stand by that claim 100% 200%!

Step 4. Nourish.

The most popular, best selling Human Nature product - the Sunflower Beauty Oil. I call this my wonder worker, as I do all sort of things with it. I use it as an undereye lightener/moisturizer, to lighten my stretch marks, to lighten that nasty kelloidal scar on my left leg, to soften my knees and elbows, as a makeup remover, and now I'm even using it to clean my makeup brushes! Yes! In lieu of olive oil, I use the Sunflower Beauty Oil instead. How's that for innovation? :)

Now, I am pleased to announce that I'll be partnering with Human Heart Nature Laguna again for another giveaway. Yes, green mommies, advocates of organic products, and established fans of Human Nature, here's another treat for you!

I'll be giving away a complete set of Human Nature face care products for the Green Your Mom giveaway!

One (1) 50 mL Balancing Facial Wash, one (1) 100 mL Balancing Face Toner, one (1) 50 mL Moisturizing Night Cream, one (1) 50 mL Moisturizing Day Fluid, one (1) 50  mL Sunflower Beauty Oil.

The last Human Nature giveaway was a blast, and from the looks of it, this might be happening on a monthly basis! I hope you'll give this upcoming event the same support as the last; it truly means a lot to me seeing all those positive and wonderful feedback from all of you.

Save the date, everyone, and see you all on May 1! :)

Imbibing Positivity | The Makings of a Yummy Mummy.

When I posted this photo last April 12 on my personal Facebook timeline (together with the contest background and mechanics), I was a bit very nervous. For one, I wasn't even sure why I signed up for this. The chic badge and the kissmark, perhaps? Or the prestige of being hailed 'Yummy Mummy'? I reckon it's all of the above. But since I've already told Lexie of my intent to join, it'd be shameful if I would back out all of a sudden.

I wasn't sure what I was expecting out of this, either. I mean, I have the greatest friends in the world and I surround myself with amazing and inspiring people - be it in the real world or in the online community. But the cynic and paranoid android in me worried that things might not turn out the way I wanted. After all, you can't please everybody.

With the contest deadline looming, I checked my Facebook post only to find around 25 'likes' but zero comments. I was flabbergasted, and a bit disheartened. "Whatever happened to my friends?! My best friend, even???", I wondered. I was ready to cry at this point, when all of a sudden, one of my longtime friends AND my son's godmother asked where she should post her comment. With a glimmer of hope (lol), I asked her to just leave a comment on the photo as I will collaborate all the comments into one blog entry.

Just then, the comments swarmed one by one. From my grade school friends, high school clique, college batchmates, fellow Kpop fangirls, fellow bloggers, and the most astounding of all - from the Directress of my son's school. (Yes, she reads my blog! I am truly, truly humbled!)

Kuni, my brother from another mother (lol, we're that close since we practically grew up together), cracked me up with his comment:

Haha, ok I didn't read the instructions (if this was an exam, I've already flunked!). 3 sentences hmm... Hardworking, of course! Anybody who has tried taking care of an active little kid will know why. Smart and savvy. Been her friend since high school, trust me, you can't put one over this girl! Strong-willed. Being apart from one's spouse for so long is difficult enough, the fact that they're in love makes it even more so. Goodluck Sis!

Abegail, a former classmate and fellow UP alumni, made me blush with what she said:

this mummy deserves this award cos she is an epitome of a strong woman not to mention, hawt. move over, victoria beckham. your glory days are over.:)

So did Katrina, also a former classmate now a fellow yummy mommy, too!

this mommy blogger deserves this award because her blog is amazing! its informative, refreshingly witty and entertaining. a great resource for stay-at-home moms and all moms alike!

My favorite girls Karla, Sylvia, and Eunice (comments in that order), whom I've all been friends with since high school made me teary-eyed:

She's the epitome of a yummy mummy cos she stays pretty and fab while raising a fine young boy. She does everything with spunk and if you haven't yet, checkher daily blog which chronicles her awesome journey.

She's the only mummy I know who does the laundry/dishes and all other household work in full make-up! Yeah, she's fabulous like that. But beyond all that, she's a hardworking mummy who only wants the best for her family and loves her friends dearly. Truly a yummy mummy! ;)

This Mummy deserves a Yummy Mummy Award because despite all the hassles and difficulties she's facing each day as a mother, she still manages to do it all and more with class and elegance only a few women can accomplish. She puts her family first and everything she dreams and tries to achieve is for them. Anyone who personally knows this girl will certainly be amazed by her charm and intelligence. Proud of you friend :)

Talented photographer, poet, essayist, and national artist in the making Jaypee even had smileys all over his comment.

Czjai Reyes-Ocampo is a yummy mummy because her looks and charisma are definitely yummy. ^_^ She has a kind heart that endears us to her. Indeed, this well-loved mummy is a yummy mummy! ^_^

Ms. Elaine, who is on the list of my inspirational people, gave me quite a surprise with what she had to say.

Aside from looking so glamorous while doing dishes/laundry which amazes me so,her positive outlook in life radiates so strong and she doesn't even know she inspires others including me! You might think she just focuses her time on herself but then, her neat house, delectable dishes on table, clean ,fragrant clothes in the clothesline, a happy husband ,a handsome and smart boy Yue- she does these all while looking glamorous! And yes, she's still at her best in her blooming writing career while endlessly nurturing meaningful friendships. It would only take one super yummy mommy to do all of those. :-)

Even my online buddies and fellow mommy bloggers Giselle and Bernadette (whom I haven't even met personally) pitched in.

I believe this mommy deserves this award because she balances her role as a wife and mom while working her way towards her goals perfectly. She accepts her limitations but recognizes her capabilities as well. I would say she's a tough cookie to be living on her own with a kid in tow but still she manages to be her own self. Goodluck! I hope you win :)

Czjai is a yummy mummy because she can do all parenting duties while still looking fab. She's a multi'tasking momma too! She blogs, she takes care of Yue, she does the grocery, she washes the clothes, she cleans the house and she cooks. She does all these without a househelp. Yes, she's my friend Czjai, a superwoman!

There was also Smiley - we're sisters from the same college organization, and now we're also sisters in blogging and in the voiceBoks community!

A yummy mommy is one who's generous of her wealth of motherhood and general knowledge. Such is CZjai! Thanks for all the tips!

Even Liz, whom I met through my Super Junior/Kpop addiction, took the time to comment even if she's still recuperating from an illness and has limited time on Facebook, let alone online.

Yummy mummy because she maintain being herself and a mom that always wants the best for her son and husband.

Now one of the biggest surprises came from Ms. Miles, the School Director of The Learner's Academy (aka Yue's school).

A yummy mummy maintains a good balance between self and being a mummy (however one defines the "good"). From her FB name alone, one finds that Ms. Reyes-Ocampo keeps her own in her hyphenated last name. Her lightness attests to her being able to keep her own as well.

The other came from my husband, who has never - in the nine years that we've been together - given me a handwritten loveletter. He says writing on paper can be bothersome and he does it better when using a keyboard, lol.

She's my Lara Croft, sans the long hair. Spunk, sass, smarts, and the don't-mess-with-me attitude. But she's also the sweetest, most supportive, and most frivolous wife any husband can ever have. We had to go through hell and high water to be where we are today, but if you'd ask me if I'd go through the same troubles just to marry her, I will. In a heartbeat.

To say that I was overwhelmed would be an understatement. There are no words to describe how these kind words made me feel. I was brimming with pride and happiness and truly humbled all at the same time. Never did I use the word 'good' to describe me as a person (because all human beings are erratic by nature, anyway), but seeing all these makes me think I'm not so bad after all. :)

You can view the complete thread here, and if you were to ask my three-year old what he thinks of  his Mommy, he'd tell you 'She's the most beautiful mommy, and she cooks really good. She even plays football and basketball with me, too!'

But I suppose I'm not alone in that department. All moms are 'most beautiful' in the eyes of their children. They're also amazing - with all the things a mom can do for her children, for her husband, for her family. To think she's only human, has one human body, and only two human hands. :)

Spotlight | Skye Avenue.

Whenever I'm not busy watching Korean dramas or spazzing over Kpop music videos, one of my other favorite pastimes is online shopping. For a self-confessed shopaholic, it's the most convenient method of splurging on all sorts of merchandise. And for the more congenial ones (like uhm, me!), it's also a great way of making new friends online.

Case in point, Ms. Dee Tan, who agreed to provide my prizes for the Mama Love Giveaway.

Ms. Dee is the owner of Skye Avenue - home of authentic and quality slimming products, whitening products, and now, even beauty products. She was more than happy to collaborate with me in this global event, and earlier this week, I received these from her.

Aside from sponsoring my giveaway, Ms. Dee even sent a bunch of beauty products for me to enjoy. Yes, that's how kind she is. :)

Both packages were secured in bubble wrap, and had thank-you stickers on them. I opened mine, and here's what I found inside.

A jar of Krave Luxurious Perfection Mineral Foundation, a tube of Miners Matte Factor Lip Paint, and some Ecorre BB Cream! I'll do a separate review on these items. Hopefully I can get 'em all done within the next 48 hours. Hopefully. :)

I dared not open the other package because it's sealed and nicely wrapped as it is. So instead of taking actual photos, I copied these photos from the official websites instead. I can't resist not giving my lovely readers and fellow makeup junkies a glimpse of what they should be looking forward to come May 1.

A 3-pack sachet of Ecorre Artist BB Cream.

A NYX Round Lipstick in Peach Bellini.

A Beauty UK Cosmetics Eyeshadow / Eyeliner Palette in Amazon.

Sweet, isn't it?
Told you May will be another giveaway-filled month for me. Thank you Ms. Dee, for making this giveaway possible. :)

The Mama Love Event will go live from May 1 to May 6, so be sure to come back and enter my giveaway then!
