Spotlight | Riri Hearts MAC Superslick Liquid Eye Liner.

Last week, I did a review of the Riri Hearts MAC Veluxe Pearlfusion Eyeshadow Palette. This time, I'll be sharing my thoughts on the Superslick Liquid Eyeliner, which is also part of the Riri Hearts MAC Holiday 2013 Collection.
Riri Hearts MAC.
Superslick Liquid Eye Liner.
There are two eyeliners in the collection - Pisces Persuasion and Cockiness. The one I have is the latter, which has a shimmery rose gold frost shade.
Here's the color indicator on the cap.
And what the shade is called.
It comes with a thin felt-tip applicator, which makes it super easy to apply. Even liquid eyeliner newbies will not have trouble using this product.
Hello, you beautiful frosty thing. :)
Now here are the swatches.
One swipe on the left, two on the right.
It's quite pigmented, as you can see, and has a gorgeous, opaque coverage. Although this liner is water-based and takes a few seconds longer than the usual to dry, it stays put once it sets down on your lids. I was able to wear this for more than eight hours with very little fading. I also love how this liner is waterproof, yet quite easy to remove. (Just so you know, I use the Green Tea Phyto Powder Makeup Remover from The Face Shop, which is one of my favorite skincare discoveries of the year.)

Cockiness can be worn on its own, but when used with black liner, it adds depth and glamour to your eyes. Layer it over your favorite black liner and you get a gorgeous coppery shade.  And you can wear it in the inner corners to highlight and brighten your eyes.

The Riri Hearts MAC Superslick Liquid Eye Liner was priced at $20.50 (around Php 900) when it was released last year. Not sure if this is still available at MAC counters, but it's no longer listed in the MAC website. Figures, since this is a 2013 limited edition release.

Spotlight | Riri Hearts MAC Veluxe Pearlfusion Eyeshadow Palette.

I finally got my hands on the Riri Hearts MAC Veluxe Pearlfusion Eyeshadow Palette, which is part of the Riri Hearts MAC Holiday 2013 Collection. This is so last year (literally and figuratively), I know. But you know what they say, better late than never! :)
Riri Hearts MAC, finally!
2X Dare.
Made with the Veluxe Pearlfusion eyeshadow formula which can be used wet or dry, this palette features silvery grays and muted browns that are noticeably shimmery and frosty. The packaging is simple yet exudes an aura of elegance - white palette, rose gold detailing, and a clear lid with Riri's logo and signature.
Simple yet sleek.
The topmost shade is a bright, frosty white with metallic finish.
The second shade is a muted, golden bronze with a metallic, glittery finish. It's too glittery that it tends to get all chunky and patchy when applied.
The third shade is a cool-toned, grayish taupe with a bit of bronze and silver sparkles.
The fourth shade is muted brown with a bit of sparkle to it. I love how this particular shade changes finish depending on how it is applied - semi-opaque when worn dry, and completely opaque when worn damp.
And finally, the bottom shade which is a cool-toned brown with plum undertones and a teeny, tiny bit of pearly shimmer.
A closer look at the shades.
Here's how the shades look like when swatched.
Swatches.
I'm a fan of eyeshadows with shimmery and metallic finish, so this palette is right up my alley. Save for the second shade which has a bit of fall-out and has a rather chunky texture, I'm super happy with this palette and thankful to my friend who sent this to me as a gift. :)

This palette retailed for $44 (around Php 2000) when it hit the market last year, I believe the price is still the same, though I can seem to find this item the last time I checked the MAC website.

Have you tried this palette before? What's your favorite product from MAC? :)

Trend-spotting | Red is in for Autumn 2013!

This season's makeup trend is all about being fiery and bold. And nothing speaks bold like a tube of smoldering red lipstick. So expect MAC's Ruby Woo and Rimmel's Kate Red to be selling like hotcakes this season. (As if Ruby Woo isn't a bestseller all throughout the year, lol.)

Not to be outdone by the European and Western brands, Korean cosmetics companies have also released makeup collections that are attuned with this season's trend.

Feast your eyes on the latest releases from some of my favorite Korean makeup brands.
Han Bo Reum for The Face Shop.
It is what it is for The Face Shop's Fall (and Winter) Collection - Simply Classic
My eyes are fixated on the fourth to the last tube. :)
Their Artist Touch lipstick has three ranges - Moisture, Glossy, and Creamy Matte. Pictured above are the shades from the Moisture range.
Yoona for Innisfree.
Meanwhile, glossy, moisturized lips are the promise of Innisfree's Color Glow line. There are ten different shades in the collection, and those purple-toned ones in the middle kinda tickle my fancy.
BoA for Missha.
Missha, on the other hand, calls its Fall collection 'Belle Epoque' - reminiscent of the era of artistic and cultural refinement in French history. That wine red lipstick from the Fatal Aura range is giving me the 'Moulin Rouge' vibe - chic, sultry, and utterly sexy.
Rosy Tint Lips.
Etude House's Rosy Tint Lips are actually lip stains - with a twist to it.
Sulli for Etude House.
They're packaged like lip glosses but are highly pigmented, with a creamy texture and a matte finish. And I can't wait to grab shades number 3 and 8 for myself, lol.
Loving Laneige. :)
Last but not the least, there's Laneige and their heart-pounding, show-stopping collection of 'Serum Intense' Lipstick. They have 20 different shades in the collection, all of which have a lovely, satin finish.

But why, you may ask, is red the 'in' thing this autumn?
Park Hye Jeong, a makeup artist at NARS, puts it this way, "A prolonged recession makes people feel that they can't afford even a little bit of luxury. A simple touch of red lipstick alone is like complete make-up, so the answer is red."

So ladies, which red lipstick will you be wearing this season?
