Macro is Love!

If we're friends on Facebook, or if you've seen my portfolio, then you're pretty much aware of my love affair with macro photography. This fascination I owe to the point-and-shoots that I'm using right now - Finn and Santana. (Yes, I name my gadgets. Because I'm weird like that. Haha!)

Finn is a Fuji Finepix J150w, which I got two years ago. It's a 10 megapixel camera with a 5x wide angle zoom lens, and has about 20 different shooting modes. It's not the most outstanding camera in its league, but hey, beggars can't be choosers. (I got this as a gift, you see.)

Santana, on the other hand is my Sony Ericsson Satio - which is actually, a smartphone. It boasts of a 12.1 megapixel camera (eat your heart out, Nokia!) with 15 different shooting modes, including panorama, BestPic, and face detection. I bought this in early 2010, with the camera being my main reason for buying it.

Having a well-tended garden at home worked to my advantage. With blooming flowers and lush greens, I had an array of subjects to draw inspiration from and take pictures of. And these sparked my interest and penchant for macro shots.

This was one of the very first photos I took using macro.

Pink cattleya orchids.
We've got a bunch of orchids in our garden, because my grandmother loves them. A lot.

White cattleyas.
They come in all shape and sizes, too.

Yellow 'dancing ladies'.

Same goes for the bougainvilleas.

Pinks and whites.
But this color is my favorite.

Lavender.
Now these shots I love the most.

Pink plumeria.
I love taking photos after a drizzle.

No roses, just leaves. And water droplets.

And I love taking photos of plants whose names I don't even know.

Garden shrub with red berries.

The garden even makes a great background for photo ops.

You can also find these photos (and more) on my photo blog.

Everything's captured with just a point-and-shoot, baby! :D

2012: Imbibe and Ignore.

I don't have a New Year's resolution, because I have to admit, most of those that I've made in the past don't end up getting resolved anyway. So instead of chalking down an exhaustive list of resolutions (that will most likely be forgotten halfway through the year), I just came up with a mantra that will serve as my guideline for the entire year. I call it 'imbibe and ignore' - imbibe the positive, and ignore the negative.

Six days into 2012, and it's been a great week so far. I kicked things off by getting my own domain, and finally having a (dot) com to my name.

Got me some great drugstore makeup, too. This eyeshadow trio arrived at my doorstep yesterday. They came just in time because the browns and neutrals in my train case are almost hitting the pan. (Will make a separate post about this later.)

One of the best eyeshadow brands that I've ever used.

Then there was Siwon dancing in Eastwood and the rest of Super Junior performing live... from my TV screen.

SuperShow 3... on DVD.
Finally, I got another surprise last night when I learned that I was the winner of Breena's 100 Follower Giveaway. I won a free ad space for one month, on her blog! I am so thrilled and honored to have my badge sitting comfortably on her awesome blog. It's on the right sidebar, the girl riding the ATV - you can't miss it.

Good vibes, good times - and so they say. I couldn't agree more. Good things happen when you surround yourself with the good, and when you channel out only the good. It's one of the things I've learned from the little angel who's always beside me. (Even in Instagram photos.)

How was your first week of the year? I hope 2012 is being good to you, too. :)

Happy Bubbles.

I love taking pictures. It's a penchant that goes way back to my UPLB days. After all, this was part and parcel of my college major. As such, I shall be posting photos from my portfolio - if ever I will really have one, LOL - from time to time.

My son has been my most favorite subject when it comes to photographs. From the moment I gave birth to him, I always keep a camera close by. You have to be armed and ready to shoot for those fleeting milestones and Kodak moments. I guess that's the reason why Yue always looks so radiant in his photos. He's been smiling for the camera before he could even talk.

As of late, this is my most favorite action photo of my little man. This was taken at last Saturday's luncheon after Maggie's Christening. And those are bubbles from the bubble machine provided by the party organizers.

How I adore that look on my son's face - beaming with awe, and bursting with happiness. Oh, the joys of being this little boy's Mommy. :)

Pink Fridays # 97. Maggie's Pink Cake!

It's not Friday today, I know. But since I really, really want to share this photo, plus the fact that I want to join in the fun that they're having at Pink Thoughts, I decided to make this entry anyway. Think of it as a slightly late post for last Friday.

Tickled pink! This is my niece Maggie's Christening cake - a little gift from the three of us (that's me, my husband, and our Moon Angel). And yes, you can eat the picture. I don't want to slice through the cake, though. That adorable little face is just way too cute to be eaten!

It's Friday! Think Pink!
