Avoid Online Fraud with LifeLock!

This post brought to you by LifeLock Facebook. All opinions are 100% mine.

Social media sites are the 'in' thing these days, and together with their growing popularity also comes the proliferation of all sorts of cybercrimes, including identity theft.

How many online accounts do you currently own? Which sites do you frequently use? How hack friendly is your password?

Studies show that professional hackers can breach your password security within the blink of an eye. If you have 6 characters in your password with no symbol, it only takes a professional .000224 seconds. If you have 10 characters and one symbol in your password, it takes up to 20 days for a professional to break in. This means that your online banking accounts, personal information, and overall privacy are highly at risk if your password falls within the two categories.

One of my old email accounts fell prey to keystroke logging a few years ago. Although my password wasn't as simple as 'abc123', nothing seems to be impossible for someone who is determined to barge into somebody else's online account and knows about your personal information. Statistics show that the most common victims of online fraud include the following:
  • 6.6% of victims are smartphone owners
  • 6.8% of victims are social media users who click on the applications
  • 8.2% of victims are social media users who have “checked in” using their smartphone GPS
  • 10.1% of victims are LinkedIn users
This is where LifeLock comes into the picture.

LifeLock, the leader in identity theft protection, aims to protect individuals and groups from identity theft before the actual damage is done. Aside from being a credit monitoring service, LifeLock safeguards personal information with advanced surveillance techniques and reliable customer service.

With hacking so prevalent these days it's worth considering something like this to protect your accounts.

I have often wondered how people can put so much personal info on their social media sites for just such reasons. What a great review of what looks like a promising product!

It's so hard to keep track of different passwords, too, so having a backup system in place, just in case, seems quite wise! Great information.

I've been a victim of physing site before and its really difficult having your password to a hacker as they'll take advantage of your contacts.

Was this on The Celebrity Apprentice last year? I think I remember hearing about it before. It sounds like a great product to have, especially with how connected we are in this day in age!
