5 Activities to Have at your Child's Next Birthday.

It’s important to have a whole bunch of activities to keep the kids entertained at your child’s birthday party. You want them to have an amazing day with their friends and remember their birthday as a super fun experience. It can be hard to decide the best things to do for a birthday party, so we’ve put together a list of activities that your child will love!
The little man's 4th birthday! :)
Hire an entertainer
This might be a clown or someone dressed-up. It will be a great surprise to the kids to see someone new and exciting at their party, especially if they’re dressed as their favourite movie character and have a bunch of fun party games ready to play.

Treasure Hunt
Perfect for getting the cherubs outside! Treasure hunts are easy to set up and will keep the kids entertained for hours. You can hide lots of different things such as food (make sure it’s sealed or wrapped), toys or tokens and create little maps to help them along the way. The kids will definitely love an adventure in the backyard and they will be excited when they find the treasures at the end.

Make your own tshirt design
A unique party idea for the kids is to help them design their own t-shirt. They will have a blast picking the colours and pictures and they will remember the fun they had on their birthday every time they wear the shirt. Vistaprint has heaps of options to help you easily design a nd print your own shirt. Check out the website for more info today.

Petting Zoo
Farm animals are very educational for children to learn about. The kids will love having a petting zoo at their party so they can get up close and personal with heaps of cute and cuddly animals. Because this is a service offered by professionals, the animals are trained to know how to react to children, so you won’t have to worry too much about the kids disturbing them. They will have a great time getting to know the animals and it will teach them about the farm and what animals live there.

Pass the Parcel
A party favourite amongst many children, pass the parcel is a birthday activity that will have them at the end of their seats. Pass the parcel is both fun for the family and the kids. The game is really easy to make. All you need is some prizes (chocolates, lollies or small toys) and some newspaper. Make sure you put something in every layer so nobody misses out.

There are heaps of fun activities to plan for your child’s next birthday. Put on as many fun games as you can for your child’s next birthday!

Foodie Goodie | Meeska, Mooska, Mickey Mouse!

The little man turns four this November, and as early as the first week of September, the preparations for his birthday celebration began. That's the way it has been ever since his first birthday.
First Birthday, Justice League.
After his Justice League birthday party in 2009, I made it a point to have a themed birthday party every year.
Second Birthday, Ben 10.
Even if his second and third birthday were just simple celebrations at home, with his godparents as guests.
Third Birthday, Phineas and Ferb.
For his fourth birthday, we're going to celebrate it at school, with Mickey Mouse as the party theme. I actually made the little man choose between Mickey Mouse and Toy Story, as these are the two available boys' party themes at McDonald's. (Yes, you guessed it right. We'll be having a McCelebration come November!)

Good thing he chose the former, as I wouldn't have that much of a problem when it comes to party ideas. Spoonful.com is teeming with Mickey Mouse crafts and recipes, and the site has been a great help for the party preparations.

These Mickey silhouette cake pops are just too cute to go unnoticed. They're a tad fussy to make, but I can just imagine the gleeful faces of the little man's classmates when they see this.

These Minnie Mouse inspired favor bags make great souvenirs, too. Stuff them with candies and little toys and they're good to go. McDonald's party package for themed celebrations come complete with lootbags and party favors, though. That way, my arts-and-crafts skills (or the lack of it) need not be challenged, lol.

As for the birthday cake, I'm still undecided if I should just go for the traditional one (complete with cake toppers and lettering) or have something similar to my Super Junior birthday cupcakes instead.

Either way, I'm sure the little man will have no complaints about it. He's happy for as long as he has a candle to blow, haha.

And gifts, of course. :)

Foodie Goodie | McDonald's Twister Fries.

Dear McDonald's,

Please don't take this off the menu, ever.

My Purple Valentine. :)

For the past three years, Valentines Day saw me dating another man. And he looks like a carbon copy of my husband.

My handsome date. ;)
I'm talking about my son, of course! (Were you thinking about Lee Jun Ki? LOL.) And he was more than happy to fill in for his Daddy this year, because he gets to pick the place where we'll be dating.

Donning my favorite color. :)
Of course, I was not surprised with the little man's restaurant of choice.

Homaygad. Cheeeeeeeese!
Because he wanted another Happy Meal toy, and some caramel sundae for dessert.

What the fudge! :)

Not Pikachu!
I was actually thinking along the line of fine dining restaurants, like Aristocrat or Max's. But my resolve is no match for the power of Pokemons and french fries.

I am secretly pining for Max's Lumpiang Sariwa. LOL!
Oh well, for as long as he's happy, then I'm good.
At least he got me a Valentine present - in collaboration with his Dad.

Ube Cake from Red Ribbon.
It's no Tous les Jours, but boy, was I surprised with how good Red Ribbon Ube Cakes are after all.

Sprinkled with ube goodness.
No wonder the older folks love 'em. They're light and fluffy, oozing with ube goodness, but not sickeningly sweet.

Best of all, it comes in my favorite color. This is purple yam, after all. :)

Happy Meal, Happy Baby!

When Yue saw the latest Happy Meal commercial on TV the other day, I knew what was going to happen next.

And so the inevitable happened the following day - a trip to the nearest McD's and three orders of Happy Meals.

Alvin and my Quarterpounder.
Because Yue wanted all three chipmunks at the same time.

Simon and Theodore. (And a Mc Chicken meal plus two more Burger Mc Do meals.)
So that meant buying that much food even if it's just the two of us eating. (Plus my Quarterpounder, bought ala carte.) I have no qualms when it comes to these Happy Meal toys, because I'm actually a fan of them, too. I started collecting them when I was still in high school; all those toys are still very much intact and stored properly at my Mom's place. So imagine how much I have spent on Ronald McDonald all these years. It's a fortune, I tell you!

But they don't call it a Happy Meal for nothing. Just look at my little man.

Our favorite couch at McD's.
His face says it all. :)

How to Make the Little Man Smile.

My son has the sweetest smile in the world. And it doesn't take much to elicit that from him. He takes his frivolity after me; both of us find joy in the simplest little things.

One of his cheap thrills, for instance, is going to the mall. (Although when you think about it, the mall is not really a very cheap place to go to. Haha!) Mention the word 'SM' and his face will instantly brighten, like Christmas lights that have just been plugged into the socket.

Dress him up in his 'going out' clothes, and he'll be happier even more. Especially when he's wearing his Spiderman sneakers, his most favorite shoes at the moment. That way, he's pretty much convinced that you're really going somewhere and you're not just saying 'SM' for kicks.

Stylin' and profilin'.
On Yue: Future England Captain shirt and pants set from  Umbro, Spiderman hi-cut sneakers by Reebok.

When at the mall, take him to any of his favorite fastfood restaurants. Get him some fries, chicken or chicken nuggets, a glass of iced tea (sans the ice), and he's sure to wolf down everything in one sitting.

Regular faces at Mc D's. Because we're crazy about their Happy Meal toys.

Swing by the department store, and make sure to buy him something - anything. It doesn't matter if it's on sale or the price is astronomical (the latter is always the last option, haha!). For as long as he likes what you're going to buy, that's fine with him.

Yue's haul from last Wednesday's shopping trip: My First Words Sticker and Activity Book, a pair of Phineas and Ferb flipflops, and a blue body scrubber.

This kid absolutely loves stickers. I think it's something that all kids have a penchant for at some point in their lives. I'm glad that Yue doesn't put his stickers on the walls; thank Heavens he's a bit of a neat freak like me!

Thumbs up, Mom!

After a stressful day, nothing beats seeing the little man all beaming and happy. One look at his smile and my hunger goes away, my stress gets relieved, and I feel like the most accomplished woman in the world.

Sticker happy!
I'm glad that I chose to be a stay-at-home Mom. In my three years of being one, I've never missed a chance to see that pretty boy smile of his. He looks more and more like his Dad each day, especially when he flashes his Dad's signature killer smile. :)
