Spotlight | Missha Superfood Apricot Seed Lip Scrub.

I love lip care products as much as I love lip tints and lipsticks. As such, when I chanced upon the Missha Superfood Apricot Seed Lip Scrub back in stock on the Althea website, I purchased it (together with the rest of my Lunar New Year haul) without a moment's hesitation. I've been eyeing this product since December, but it was always out of stock whenever I checked on Althea.
Missha Superfood Apricot Seed Lip Scrub.
So anyways, the Missha Superfood Apricot Seed Lip Scrub is a lip care product that softly exfoliates and smoothens rough lips. This lip scrub is part of Missha's new Superfood line, which features lip care products made with nutrient-rich food/ingredients. Apricot is considered a superfood because of its powerful antioxidants that protect the skin against free radicals, and its laetrile content, a substance known for its ability to fight cancer. In terms of lip/skin care, apricot seeds make great exfoliants.

This product is also blended with shea butter and three kinds of naturally-derived oil extracted from jojoba seed, argan, and camellia. All these ingredients condition and moisturize the lips and make them soft and supple.
I'm liking the new logo of Missha. Are you? :)
The Missha Superfood Apricot Seed Lip Scrub comes in a handy squeeze tube, small enough to fit in your purse and even in your pocket. To use, simply squeeze out a moderate amount of the product on your lips, gently massage in circular motions, then rinse in lukewarm water.
Supreme vibes in the packaging. :)
I like how this lip scrub buffs away the dry patches on my lips without being abrasive, and how my lips look plump and healthy after every use. Yue tried this product too, and he says he likes this more because it does not have that bitter taste that the Bubi Bubi Lip Scrub has. It tastes sweet, actually, and has a lovely, fruity scent.
A small amount of the lip scrub, with tiny bits of exfoliant in it.
Yue and I both love the results of the Missha Superfood Apricot Seed Lip Scrub, and this will be our go-to lip scrub - at least for now. Not only does it bring dry lips back to life, it's quite reasonably-priced too - just Php 240 for a 9.8 gram tube.

Now I'm looking forward to trying the rest of the products in the Missha Superfood line. I hope they'll be available on Althea soon!

Spotlight | Bubi Bubi Lip Bubble Lip Scrub.

Several weeks ago, Althea had a special offer where you can get a free item with every purchase made at their website. One of the items that they were giving away for free was a lip scrub - the Bubi Bubi Lip, to be exact - and I added it to cart with Yue in mind.
Bubi Bubi Lip Bubble Lip Scrub.
You see, my son has perennially parched lips which needs to be exfoliated regularly and moisturized as needed so that they won't crack or chap. Thus, I'm always on the look out for good lip scrubs (and lip balms, too) and based on the feedback that I've read and heard about the Bubi Bubi Lip, this product seems to fit the bill.
Brief product description on the box's side panel.
Hangul text at the back of the box.
A bubble-type lip scrub, the Bubi Bubi Lip gently whisks away flaky dead skin and removes residue to reveal softer, smoother, healthy-looking lips. This microbead-free exfoliant is made with natural, fruit-based ingredients such as witch hazel and papaya extracts for easy exfoliation, peach extract to make your lips soft and smooth, and grapefruit extract to keep your lips moisturized and healthy-looking.
Unboxing the product.
The Bubi Bubi Lip comes in a handy 12 mL pump bottle. Although there's nothing much to the packaging - it's pink, it's made of plastic, it easily fits my makeup pouch - I find it cute, to be honest. Must be the gradient color and the eye-catching font.
The bottle is this big (small).
To use, simply pump a generous amount of product on your finger and apply it on your lips. The product has a creamy consistency with a subtle, fruity scent.
The pump.
Wait for it to form bubbles and let it sit on your lips for at least five minutes. You'll feel a tingling sensation as the product starts to fizzle.
A pump and a half of the lip scrub.
Once the bubbles have 'died down', gently rub your lips in circular motions before wiping or rinsing the product off. Be careful not to ingest the product - it tastes awfully bitter.
Spreading the product across the back of my hand.
Here's how the Bubi Bubi Lip worked for Yue lips. I've also tried it for myself, but you'll see far more amazing results with my son's dry lips.
Yue's lips which are dry as the desert.

Behold, the bubbles!
Hello, soft, smooth, and healthy-looking lips! :)
Needless to say, this product really works! It does a great job of exfoliating the lips and making your kisser soft, smooth, and plump. The bubbles make it such a fun product to use, but do keep in mind that this product also contains CAPB (Cocoamidopropyl Betaine), a foam-boosting ingredient whose safety for use in skincare product has been the subject of debate among skin and beauty experts. Thankfully, neither Yue nor I had adverse reactions with this ingredient, but I suggest you do a patch test before using this product.

The Bubi Bubi Lip is currently in stock at Althea and retails for Php 470 a pop. If you're shopping at Althea for the first time, you can get 20% off your purchase with my referral code. You're welcome! :)

Spotlight | Human Heart Nature Natural Lip Scrub.

Matte lipsticks are all the rage these days, and I must admit, I have a growing fondness for this lipstick trend. However, my major - and perhaps my only - concern is how they make my lips look parched and dry afterwards.

Thankfully, my favorite local skincare brand Human Heart Nature now has a product that can address this problem. Ta-daaaa ~~~ the all-new Natural Lip Scrub!
Human Heart Nature Lip Scrub.
I was looking forward to this product so much that despite being under the weather, I made it a point to attend the Magalogue Turnover/Product Launch held last March 18. Two days later I was rushed to the hospital because of a severe asthma attack, haha.
Product description.
All-natural ingredients.
Expiration date and storage instructions.
So anyway, the key to keeping your lips moisturized despite the annoying drying tendencies of matte lipsticks is to exfoliate properly. And by that, I mean exfoliating before and even after wearing (matte) lipstick.
Here's the lip scrub, uncapped.
This genuinely natural exfoliant does just that - it buffs away dry, dull skin and makes your kisser soft, smooth, and yes, kissable. It's made with all-natural, homegrown ingredients such as raw sugar from Negros, beeswax, sunflower seed oil, and jojoba seed oil.
A closer look. The jar is stuffed, like super-stuffed with sugar crystals.
The sugar crystals gently slough away rough, dry skin while the medley of moisturizers soften the skin and make the lips look plump and healthy. Oh, and this lip scrub contains peppermint too. I love its minty-fresh scent and its cooling effect on my lips!
Swatched. :)
To use, simply apply a pea-sized amount of the Human Heart Nature Natural Lip Scrub on the lips. Then massage the scrub gently for a minute or two. No need to worry about the sugar crystals falling off from your lips. They adhere pretty nicely, so none of those precious crystals go to waste. Afterwards, rinse your lips or simply wipe it off with a wet tissue or a damp washcloth.
My lips, parched and dry after 8+ hours of wearing matte lipstick.
I also used this product on my son, whose lips are often as dry as the Sahara. As soon as I applied the lip scrub on his lips, he licked the sugar crystals off the corners of his mouth because 'they were sweet', he said. Guess what? They're actually edible, but I don't recommend you to eat it. Lol. Also, you don't need to exfoliate everyday; twice or three a week will do.
After using Human Heart Nature Lip Scrub!
Overall, this product does a stellar job of getting dry and parched lips back in shape. I love its cool and refreshing formula, aside from the fact that it does not contain chemicals and is made with natural, locally-sourced ingredients. It's reasonably priced, too - just Php 175 for a 12-gram jar. Definitely pure bliss for my lips. :)

The Human Heart Nature Natural Lip Scrub is available at the Human Heart Nature online store and all Human Heart Nature branches nationwide. I'm thinking of doing a giveaway in collaboration with Human Heart Nature Laguna, so please stay tuned for details! :)
