Health Benefits of Fulvic Acid Minerals.

Through modern agricultural methods, we have stripped increasing amounts of nutrients from the soil in which the food we eat grows, and eventually prevents truly rich Fulvic Acid from ever forming. In addition, high-power industrial washing of fruits and vegetables strips away any Fulvic minerals that might be clinging to that produce from where it was grown.

Why do Fulvic Acid Minerals matter?
As you know, there are many key minerals that are essential for good health. Unfortunately, the typical food and supplements in most supermarkets simply can’t provide the quantity and quality of minerals our bodies need to be strong and healthy. The epidemic of osteoporosis and osteopenia in America —even among women who religiously take bone-building supplements— is a perfect example.

However, this issue goes way beyond bone health. Minerals are vital for literally every biochemical function in every organ system in the human body — from transmitting a nerve impulse to making a muscle fiber twitch, neutralizing a toxic free radical, regulating thyroid hormones, and recharging a red blood cell with oxygen. There is also a growing body of evidence to suggest that deficiencies of minerals are at the root of many major health problems, including thyroid disease, cancers, neuropathies, immune deficiencies, and fatigue disorders.

Fulvic Acid is naturally high in electrolytes and antioxidants
The other key health benefit of Fulvic Acid is its ability to help the body assimilate nutrients, it can help transport nutrients throughout the body and across cell walls and increases your body’s ability to actually absorb them as well.

Fulvic Acid help boost energy, promote cell life, improve circulation, enhance endurance and stimulate metabolism. Additionally, the compound helps remineralize the body, control inflammation, regulate hormone production, boost the immune system and promote brain function. Fulvic Acid also serves as a natural libido stimulator, as well as a cleansing and detoxing agent.

Fulvic Acid for Brain Health
It turns out fulvic acid may be good for your brain health as well! A study looking into the benefits of fulvic acid and Alzheimer's disease found that the compound has several nutraceutical properties with potential activity to protect cognitive impairment. More research is being done on the development of potential treatments for Alzheimer's disease using fulvic acid.

In addition to the above benefits, Fulvic Acid may also:
  • Control inflammation
  • Stimulate metabolism
  • Regulate the thyroid and thymus glands
  • Oxygenate the blood
  • Maintain optimum alkalinity
  • Increase energy
  • Rid the body of oxidants and free radicals
  • Extend the time nutrients remain active
  • Restore electrochemical balance
  • Help rebuild the immune system
How to Take Fulvic Acid
The most common way of taking fulvic acid is as a liquid supplement, sometimes referred to as “water fulvic acid.” It’s important to read and follow the dosage amounts carefully as taking too much can alter the mineral levels in your body. You can also find fulvic acid in powdered form, however, due to its taste you may want to mix it in a smoothie or juice blend.

Foodie Goodie | Sauteed Bokchoy with Tofu.

That I love tofu is no secret. I've mentioned it in this blog several times before, and if you're following me on Instagram, you've probably seen photos of tofu dishes that I cook/eat. Today, I tried something new with tofu. It's a recipe I learned from my sister-in-law, which I tweaked a bit. :)

Sauteed Bokchoy with Tofu

Ingredients:
1 package tofu, drained and cubed
2 bundles of bokchoy, trimmed
2 cloves garlic, chopped
1 onion, sliced
1 cup of chicken broth
1/2 cup of water
2 tablespoons oyster sauce
Salt and pepper

Procedure:
1. Fry the diced tofu until brown and crisp. Drain and set aside.
2. In the same pan, saute the garlic and onion.
3. Put back the tofu, then add the oyster sauce and half-cup of water. Simmer for a minute or two.
4. Put the bockhoy, then add the chicken broth. Simmer for a few minutes or until the bokchoy has softened.
5. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
6. Serve with steamed rice.

Foodie Goodie | Beef and Beans Stir Fry.

I posted this photo on my Instagram yesterday. It's the dish I cooked for lunch for the little man and I - something I prepared in a little over thirty minutes using very simple ingredients. I was surprised that my son loved this dish I invented, and even more surprised that I received requests for the recipe. Haha!

So here you go, mommies! I hope your kids enjoy this dish as much as my son did. :)

Beef and Beans Stir Fry

Ingredients:
300g ground beef
1 onion, sliced
3 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
1 cup green beans, trimmed
1 cup button mushrooms, sliced
1/2 cup oyster sauce
1/8 cup butter
salt and pepper to taste

Procedure:
1) In a wok or large skillet, heat butter over high; stir-fry beef for about five minutes or until the meat is no longer pink.
2) Add onion and garlic; stir-fry until onion is softened, about 3 minutes.
3) Add green beans; stir-fry until beans are tender-crisp, about 4 minutes.
4) Add the mushrooms and stir-fry for another two minutes.
5) Stir in the oyster sauce. Make sure it spreads evenly among the beef and vegetables.
6) To prevent sticking, add three tablespoons of water to the pan.
7) Add salt and pepper to taste.
8) Turn off heat, serve on top of hot rice.

Oh My Gulay!

July is Nutrition Month in the Philippines and every year, schools celebrate this occasion with activities related to food, good health, and proper diet.

The theme for this year's Nutrition Month celebration is "Pagkain ng gulay ugaliin, araw-araw ihain!" and its main focus is to encourage Filipinos to increase their vegetable consumption. By doing so, micronutrient deficiencies can be addressed and non-communicable diseases such as cardiovascular disease, cancer and diabetes can also be prevented.

The Learners' Academy (aka my son's school) celebrated Nutrition Month last Friday with various classroom activities. Take a look at what my son's Kindergarten class did at school.

Huge smile from my eager beaver.
Teacher Love shows the kids what they need to do.
Yue's turn to do it.
The kids prepared vegetable salad and calamansi juice for their snack, with the assistance of Teacher Love and Teacher Erlyn, of course.

Getting ready for the good stuff. :)
A blob of mayonnaise here...
some carrots there...
Yue has so many questions in between, lol.
Mixing the ketchup...
Mix, mix, mix!
Now my son was never a picky eater, and making him eat vegetables has never been a problem. But his reaction to the carrot was epic.

The face that can ignite a war, lol.
He dipped the carrot in the ketchup-mayo mix, and the taste he found revolting. Haha! He's not too fond of either ketchup or mayonnaise, which is kinda ironic since I love mayo while the husband loves ketchup.

A-aaaa!
He has no complains about the apple, though. 'Round here, he's the Cookie Monster of apples, lol.
And when Teacher Love announced that it was time to make their own juice, the little man was more ready to pounce on the calamansi.

Check out my son's hair, inspired by Siwon of Super Junior. But of course. ;)
More of squeeze, actually.

Left hand...
Right hand...
Both hands in action! Haha!
This was one activity my son really enjoyed. He loves Elmo's Magical Cookbook a lot and he seems to have developed a liking for Gordon Ramsay and his bad-ass, don't-mess-with-the-chef attitude, so it's great that he had the chance to take a stab at 'cooking' like Elmo and Chef Ramsay.

And don't be surprised to see the moms hovering in the photos. We usually stay outside the school premises during class hours, but Teacher Love allowed us to enter the classroom so we could take photos of the kids.

Thank you, Teacher Love and TLA for letting us capture these precious moments. Can't wait for the next school activity! Anticipating August! :)
