Seoul Searching | Apgujeong Adventures - K-Star Road, Rodeo Street, Moomin and Me Cafe!

For any Kpop fan, no trip to Korea would be complete without visiting Apgujeong - Seoul's upscale shopping and residential area, and home to K-Star Road and Korea's top entertainment labels. I did not have the explore the area during my first trip to Korea, so it was a must that I visit Apgujeong on my next visit (ergo, last spring).

Apparently, Apgujeong was just one subway stop away from the Seoul Forest Station, a relatively new station in Korail's Bundang Line and a ten-minute walk from where we live. Yue didn't seem to mind walking all the way to the station as the spring breeze was nice and cozy that day.
Under Stand Avenue.
Yes, it's built from cargo containers.
We even took photos as we passed by Under Stand Avenue, a cargo container mall similar to Jayang-dong's Common Ground.
Just another 'sunset in Seoul' photo.
Stopping to appreciate the flowers.
Spring is <3.
We were in Apgujeong in no time, and ready to take the walk down K-Star Road!
K-Star Road!
Let the Apgujeong Adventure begin!
Full post (and lots of photos) after the jump!

Gangnam Show postponed | Oppa not coming to Manila?

Psy’s Manila concert will not push through as scheduled.

In a statement made by Ovation Productions, logical issues were cited as the reason for postponement. The concert will be bumped off by two months, and will be rescheduled to February 2013. Dubbed as “The Gangnam Show”, the concert was originally set on Thursday, December 20, at the SM Mall of Asia.

First uploaded in July on YouTube, the music video for Gangnam Style now has the most number of views on the video-sharing site. With already 900 million views, the music video has also been recognized by the Guinness World Records as the ‘Most Liked Video on YouTube.’

Spazz Saturday #7 | Super Junior!!!

Forget the 2013 Senatorial elections.
What matters most to me now is that Super Junior win the Best Asia Act in this year's MTV Europe Music Awards (EMA).

They're up against other popular Asian acts, including Exile of Japan and Han Geng of China, who (quite ironically) is a former member of Super Junior.

Last year, Exile was one of the top contenders for the same spot. However, Kpop still reigned supreme as Big Bang won the Best Asia Act. They went on to bag the Best Worldwide Act at the 2011 MTV EMA.

This year, the MTV Europe Music Awards will be held in Frankfurt, Germany. The awards night will take place on November 11, 2012.

I've been voting like crazy for the past few days, and I'm hoping all my fellow ELFs and KPop fans are doing the same, too. Let's bring the boys to the top, and get them the recognition and honor they truly deserve! Vote for Super Junior here!

Oh, and our PSY Oppa is nominated for Best Video! This category isn't open for public voting, but I'm pretty sure we have this one in the bag. Fingers crossed! :)

Hey, it's Saturday! Who you spazzin' at?

Spazz Saturday #3 | Gangnam Style!

Welcome to week three of Spazz Saturday!
Apologies for last week's absence, and the week before that, too. The past two weekends had been crazy! Speaking of crazy...

Spazz Saturday
Unless you've been living under a rock, then I'm pretty sure you've seen or heard about 'Gangnam Style' - PSY's single that has taken the entire planet by storm.

'Gangnam Style' is a Korean colloquial term that refers to the luxurious lifestyle associated with the rich and famous residents of Gangnam district - the most upscale and affluent part of Seoul. Think of it as 'swag' or 'yolo' in English slang.

Released last July 15, the song was written and recorded as the title single of the sixth studio album PSY 6 (Six Rules), Part 1 and became the talk of the town among Kpop fans as soon as its video was released on YouTube. The video became viral, and went on to become an international sensation.

This overwhelming popularity paved the way for PSY's international stardom - this includes PSY's expansion in the United States, plus his U.S. debut appearance at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards. PSY also gained the interest of many Hollywood top honchos, including Justin Bieber's manager, Scott Braun. To date,  PSY is now part of SchoolBoy Records, where he recently signed a contract with.

And just in case you haven't seen the video yet, here it is. See why the world has gone nuts over PSY's 'Oppa Gangnam Style'. :)
