When my aunt, uncle, and cousins came home last June for a quick vacation, one of the things I received as
'pasalubong' was the
Rimmel Glam'Eyes Trio Eyeshadow palette. It's actually a gift from my favorite cousin Jeanne, who shares with me the same love for makeup and beauty products. (
And KPop and Korean dramas, too. Haha!)

Rimmel Glam Eyes Trio Eyeshadow in 740 Fever. |
My cousin knows purple is my favorite color, so it's not surprising that she chose the
740 Fever variant for me. It's a trio of purple shades - grape, lilac, and a lavender so pale it's almost white. And like most drugstore brands, this eyeshadow palette comes in a plastic pan. I find the packaging pretty chic
(must be the triangles, lol) and quite sturdy, considering they're made of plastic.

Purple is love! :) |
The
Glam'Eyes Trio Eyeshadow, as per the
Rimmel website, is a collection
'inspired by the sophistication of the London fashion scene.' There are several colors available in the
Glam'Eyes line, each shade combination aiming to complement a specific eye color. This purple palette, for instance, complements green eyes the best. Well, my eyes ain't green, but they work for me nonetheless. Haha!

Get the London look! |
Here's how the eyeshadows look like when swatched. They're not as pigmented as I expected them to be, although the colors do pop out when you use them wet. I love the hint of sparkles in these eyeshadows, though I find the texture a tad chalky. Staying power is okay - at least five to six hours with a primer on.

From L-R: Shade #1, Shade #2, Shade #3. |
What I love:
- Chic packaging.
- Color payoff is great when worn wet.
- Easy to blend and apply.
- Long-wearing.
- No allergic reactions.
- Not tested on animals.
- Affordable price. (They sell for $4.99 in the US.)
What you might not like:
- Texture is a bit chalky.
- Pigmentation is so-so if you're wearing them dry.

I actually have another Rimmel eyeshadow palette that needs to be opened. They're a trio of blues though, and you know I have a love-hate relationship with blue eyeshadow. I think I need to muster up some courage before I give the blue ones a try. Lol!
Hello :) I also like purple shades. I love the idea of eyeshadow palettes that have this kind of diagram. It will be very easy for beginners to apply more than 1 color of eyeshadows.
ReplyDeleteHow I wish I know how to use and apply eye shadows. Late na kasi ako nagka interest sapag gamit ng makeup. Hihi. Anyway, I'm loving the shades of purple! :)
ReplyDeletelooks really nice, purple is elegant and it suits you :) i haven't got a chance to have one of this,
ReplyDeleteRimmel is affordable ba in UK? It's a regular pasalubong from friends coming from London :)
ReplyDeleteHi Kath! Purple is love noh? :)
ReplyDeleteDhadha, once you get the hang of it, you'll enjoy playing with all sorts of brands and colors. :)
Thanks for the compliment sis Melandria. :)
Sis Badet, I think they're pretty affordable since drugstore brand sya. Maybelline/Revlon lang ang peg, hehe. :)
Whenever I want to wear a bit more colorful eyeshadows, I always seem to end up wearing purple! I have the same trio palette and love it!
ReplyDeleteI have a Rimmel Trio quad too but in shades of black and grey. I agree. The texture is a bit chalky and the pay off isn't that great but it's good enough considering the price :) hehehe
ReplyDeletePurples look very good with my brown eyes also! These are pretty shades. From what you are saying you have to apply wet to get a good color application? I have never done that--Hum
ReplyDeleteI've been meaning to try Rimmel products! I'm not so into purple eyeshadows, but the darkest purple in this trio reminds me of Virgina Olsen's Tinkerbelle (which I looove), when swatched!
ReplyDeleteI love those colors! I would like to see the blue ones too :) That should be next!
ReplyDeleteThose colors look so good on your skin tone and I love how they coordinate with your lipstick! I am such a chicken about experimenting with color. I always go with neutrals, but I love seeing these beautiful colors on others.
ReplyDeleteOnly someone with complexion like yours can carry off the pink really well. It looks really nice on you!
ReplyDeleteHello! I do have the same idea about Rimmel's eyeshadow, they are not that pigmented when you simply swatch them! But I really love this trio, the lilac color is beautiful!!
ReplyDeletePlease visit my blog and follow my blog too if you'd like, I followed you because I realised you do share cooking recipes too and I am a sucker for food ._.
